    Good afternoon,

I hope to send this message in the right section.

I need some information about UK law for martial arts.
I know that some years ago martial arts were controlled by UK Government, and because of this not all styles were admitted into UK areas. Am I right?

If yes, is still true? Are some martial arts not allowed there? And how is it possible to know the criteria for this choice?

Thank you very much for any information.

    Regards,

    Kentai.

No, none of that is true. There's no law in the UK preventing you from teaching or practising any martial art.

There are are certain martial-artsy weapons that are banned for sale or import e.g the 'specified weapons' in https://www.gov.uk/government/uploa...and_offensive_weapons_information_GDS_FAQ.pdf . Possibly this is what you're thinking of?

Pure myth. A bit like registering your hands as weapons or having to warn a person three times. We owe 'The Saint' so much. ;)

It's kind of funny though, that these myths are international.
Even I heard that "warn three times" seriously asked during practice.

So the £20 I paid to register my deadly hands was wasted money?

Your hands must be rubbish. Mine cost me £120, so obviously they are far more deadly.

My hands were £20. My feet cost £500 to register. Coz I does taekwondo innit.

How hard is it to get one of those electronic tag devices on your attacker first?
