Recently trained with a few other MAP members and these are all legitimate coaching cues and how they are interpreted is solely up to the reader and are totally innocent. ^on stance ^on a clinch during a slump ^mid way during a throw ^on stance again ^stance again ^ coaching someone to sit in the guard of another student. Share your own awkward training cues!
Does "You need to get closer. Spoon style." count? Judo groundwork, getting into position for an escape.
Couple of gems: -instructor about front kicks -same instructor about the heavy bag (By the way this could be one of the best threads on MAP )
"Do you want to practice the technique first or do you want me to?" "I don't mind if you go down on me." "…"
"Reach around the front and give it a nice hard tug." - A judo coach teaching how to grip the jacket for turnover in ne-waza. "You want to thrust so they know you penetrated them." - Me teaching taekwondo.
"I'm sweating like a cow on a blind date in Burger King.". ^ Me in Aikido. "You're hanging out, by the way". ^ Same Aikido club, one student to another about their gi. I won't repeat the comments that went on for the next ten minutes. "Push really hard, make them feel it and stop them coming towards you!". ^ The head coach of my KB group with a kicking drill. There's probably some great ones I've forgotten though.
