My new job!!!

This coming Monday I will be starting my new job as a "roaming dialoger". Basically you know those annoying people who stand in the street and try to get you to sign up to give money to charity, I will be one of them. I will work in a team of about 5 people, the job is popular with gap-year students and the like. We travel round the country moving from city to city, I could be going anywhere, Scotland, Cornwall even northern Ireland. We get free accommodation in sort of holiday cottage type places. We are in one city for a week, then travel to a new city each week. It is longish hours, 9am-6pm, 6 days a week and I except it will be hard work. But the money is good and I think it will be quite for too.

So, you wont be seeing me post for awhile, I am sure that will make some of you happy

You just have to remeber the three basic principles of chugging:

Timing, Energy and Motion

Good Luck with the job

yep all essential if you intend to dodge the copious amounts of saliva that members of the general public propel your way.

Congratulations, bigboss. You're now officially 'fair game', and it's open season.

Thanks for all the comments!

Next time you are stopped in the street by someone who wants to talk to you about charity, just say "MAP". If its me I will know what your talking about and we can have a chat. If its not me they will probably just think your crazy and leave you alone!

Instead of pay students lots of money, why not pay that money straight to the charity? Do they really make that much money via people off the street?

Dialogue direct? Bunch of those people used to drink in the pub I work in in Oxford every Sunday. I can't believe those guys worked for a charity. By their behaviour in the pub you wouldn't have thought it, and if I see one in the street, I'll be damned if I'm going to give any money to them! Barred from most places in Oxford!

But I've only met those guys, some of which were nice. Unfortunately overall they were arrogant, rude, conceited, condescending *ahem*s.

Make them nice for me, will ya?

Every penny you give to someone like me goes straight to the charity it is for! I am not on commission.

Charities, lets use Oxfam a an example, Oxfam has a budget that budget could look something like this 60% for building wells, 20% for advertising, 10% for administration, 10% for fund raising (I fall in to the fund raising category). So no matter how you donate that budget will always be the same. Whether you donate online, or put money in a box in a shop or phone up after seeing an advert on TV 10% of the money will always go to fund raising i.e. paying people like me.

Now as for you question about do they really make money from people off the street, apparently yes! And as for why they pay lots of money for people to do the fund raising, its a hard job that requires a lot of skill to do!

Due to the nature of the job you have to be pretty confident and out going, this probably comes across as arrogance in other settings. Or the particular guys you met where just a bunch of ass holes, who knows!

ture, but this was definitely not confidence. Setting fireworks off inside the pub? Chucking your rucksacks anywhere you like and almost getting a staff member sacked by telling the manager she allowed you to open your own bottle of chapagne in the pub?

All in all though, they were probably a bad bunch, and I'll put money on you having a good time!
