HELP, I've done something really stupid....

....this is one for people who train in white gi's......(you may already be able to see where this is going).

Er I threw in a pair of blue jeans with my white gi in the washing machine (yes I know, what was I thinking).

Anyway as is now probably obvious my gi has streaks of blue dye across it.

Has anyone else done this and has anyone got any suggestions. I'm reluctant to bleach it because it will fade the logo on the front.

Any advice appreciated.

Raise your arms until they are straight out in front of you. From that position, place your left hand, on your right elbow. Place your right hand on your left elbow. Now nod slightly as you blink ... there, that should do it ... worked for Jeannie anyway.

Have you dried them yet? If you've dried the Gi, you've probably set the stain.

Also, using bleach will weaken the fabric and the thread... bleach is hard on clothes. But I'd use it as a last resort.

AWESOME! I'd leave them like that and make a fashion statement. But if you train at a school that doesn't have as much tolerance for your new fashion sense, I'd invest in oxi-clean and spot cleaner. Let it soak, and wash it again. If that doesn't get it to a tolerable whiteness, use bleach only on the streaked areas. Worse comes to worse, just get a new gi.

All I know is, I'd be sportin that in class the next day like the "other word for chicken" of the walk

edit* didn't realize that counted as swearing....

Oz,

Just think of all that "extra" training you could get when your sensei finds out...you could be an uber MA by then!

Just be glad it wasn't something red. For the brief time I did Aikido at university, my red belt ended up dying a small strip around the waist of my gi pink. Don't have that gi anymore...

See, this is why we train with black uniforms at my Kung Fu club
