Metro newspaper UK-Martial Art Science

As I got onto the train platform I picked up a Metro, I was just looking at the pages when I found an article titled "How hard is hard".

It descripted that some scientists were measuring how many muscles and how much speed and force was put into TKD, Karate, Boxing and maui Thai.

US Boxer Steve Petramale: Delivered a punch generating a force of 445kg-the same as being hit in the face with a sledgehammer

Kung Fu Master Alex Huynh:Has teh punching speed of 12m a second-faster than a snake can strike hissssss

TKD expert (not sure whether he is) Bren Foster: Was able to react to a stimulas in 0.18 seconds-that is twice as fast as teh blink of an eye...oooo you missed it!

The karate side kick generates more the 400kg of force and Maui Thai knee skrikes have the force equivalent of a 35mph car crash.

Its a small bit of info found in the paper free in most big London train stations, I would love to have seen how the experiment took of especially the car at 35mph v's random thai boxer.

there is a programme on it called "Fight Science" on the National Geographic channel on Sky, Wednsday October 18, 10:00 pm.

I love the Metro, it really brightens up the mournings!
As for the 35mph car-crash-knee, I'd still much rather be hit by one of those a couple of times in the ring than be hit a couple of times by a car.

You can see it now "Maui Thai...Ultimate Fighting!!!" some poor s*d standing doing his praying in the ring and this large sports car drives in reving up.

Does that mean a Muai Thai practicioner can stop a car moving at 35mph with a knee strike then?
