Kuhnhausen's size -- 5-foot-7 and 260 pounds -- may have given her an advantage.

I proudly send a kiss to the big girl

w00t for her!

...but but but how could this be? She didn't do Brazilian Ju Jutsu or Muay Thai. She just defended herself. Oh no. My world is crumbling

It's implied that it was a BJJ strangle, not just BJJ, but a Gracie one.

Any strangles happening anywhere on earth from this day on belongs to the Gracies. Please refer to patent number 351546745365345G

The thing that makes me laugh is that she was 51 years old!

And the intruder was 59. Maybe he should have retired (before she 'retired' him!) "It's a young man's game....!"

Anyway, good for her.

Strangling a burglar to death in Australia would net you a one way ticket to jail.....

Guess being a obese does have its merits .

Wow, are you alowed to defend yourself at all?
I am not trying to be a smart ass just asking. That seems kind of scary that you would have to worry about going to jail for defending your life and property.

Holding a guy down and strangling him to death isn't defending yourself.

Smacking him unconcious with your elbow is.

Well - he was armed with a hammer (ie. a deadly weapon).
However, it might be argued that she exceeded reasonable force by actually killling him.

Maybe a little
Would reasonable 'deadly' force be any different though?

As much of a 'good' thing as it may seem, I still find it a bit disturbing.

Is this how she's used to dealing with a crisis? I can't say I'd be too calm if I'd just murdered someone...

If he wasn't armed, maybe she could have just 'sat' on him
