Has anyone here watched Fight School?
Well, if you haven't, I suggest you never do, it will be best for you. This show, is so utterly stupid that it hurts my ears and eyes to watch it. There's one "grandmaster" who's BTW the only Asian guy IN THE ENTIRE SHOW and he basically just sits there, nods, and trying to look wise. Then there are 3 mini-chairman of the school, one of them a large black man named "Megatron" (WTF? I started crying and laughing at the same time when I heard that), a Caucausian woman who's a drill-sergeant-wannabe that sits there and yells stuff and the contenders, and another one that doesn't even get shown often. I started watching it, most of the styles that the practitioners train in are some of the "sissy" styles, i.e. Karate, TKD, Wushu, not that you can tell by looking at their clothing - all Shaolin-style "pijamas" (sorry, don't know their Chinese name). The "competition" takes place in a big Chinese temple in the mountains, which as far as I've seen is a very small and was probably built exclusively for the show. The contenders do the usual cr*p, like challenges and complaining about how difficult the training is and how disgusting the food is, basically being rebellios, lazy Westerners with little respect to the teachers. Then they fight for real... and here comes my breaking point. Now, I've only seen episode 3 and half of episode 5, but when I saw "Fight School" I thought - Wow, OMG, so cool, they're gonna do cool stuff and fight and break each other's bones! But I swear, I grabbed my head, smashed it into the wall, cryed miserably and yelled "WHHHYYYYY??????" when the big, black man named "Megatron" broke up one of the fights and said "excessive contact! This is martial arts, not a street fight!". WHAT THE HELL? Excessive contact? Street fight? Since when did MA all about point fighting and point racking? It's a sad, sad joke of a show, really. All it is is The Contender, only that it sucks. I'm sorry but I just had to say this because I'm so mad I even bothered watching it.
Avoid at all costs. And beware teh MegAtRonn!!!11 *goes to cry alone in a dark room* |

It's just meant to be entertainment...
The "Grandmaster" of "Fight School" was Wing Chun master Simon Lau, who studied Wing Chun in Hong Kong , & has a school (The Simon Lau Centre) in London. The "caucasian drill-sergeant wannabe" is Becky Riggs, who's a 4th or 5th dan black belt in TKD (TAGB) & has won many competions.

a- I don't believe any style to be a sissy style, that's why I put "sissy" in quote marks, it's just that these styles are believed to be less effective by a lot of people (<-that's a fact).
b- I don't doubt the skill level of any of the hosts or the contenders, but their presence and appearence are questionable. Sorry if I offended anyone (tou-chy!), but this is just a rant about how much the show sucks. |

Simon Lau has a bad reputation as a teacher.
It's silly the way he is the grandmaster despite the way that the students aren't doing wing chun. |

Alot of people trained alongside Bruce Lee.
But training with Bruce Lee or with his old teachers does not mean they have his level. Training like Bruce Lee is a different matter. I thought fight school was pretty fun - granted I was not impressed with Danny (chinese dude) getting influenced by Don the twit. And he got his ass kicked by the black dude when he looked much better than he performed in that fight. But man, those girls in their tight blue uniforms.....

This has been covered several times before, feel free to use the awesome search function
![]() http://martialartsplanet.com/forums/...ad.php?t=48365 http://martialartsplanet.com/forums/...t=fight+school http://martialartsplanet.com/forums/...t=fight+school I've sparred with Danny and what was on the show was NOT Danny. We often spar one person vs multiple and I can honestly say he is one bad man. From what he told me the 'fights' were less than semi contact and when the producer/director thought he saw a 'cool' move the fight was stopped and the 'cool' move re-filmed for the camera.
