not true, everything i learn is self taught .. Im one of those type of people who learn from experiance/from a book(concept, philosophy) or from other peoples experiance. Well actually i started wit TKD, went up to brown belt, haha, than i realize im better of reading a book.

I dont need to go a ma skoo, and i can use my older bro as an example, he taught himself all the break dancing move, a front forward flip, a no hand cartwheel(the cool looking one) and all he took was 4 months of kick boxing....and they wasnt even teaching him that, its cuz he understand how to use his body.

trust me bro, if u kno how to punch, how to kick and understand ur body very well, u can learn anything just by reading, actually i could try it just by looking, but i want to kno the full body techique to pull it off efficientally.

Not bashing u, just showing u my point of view

hehe im rhyming

It's funny that you comment on how good of a learner you are, when you haven't learned how to spell yet.

But serisouly, go to a school. You will learn more in one class (if the instructor is quality) than you would from a weeks worth of personal research.

I can, if he sends me a check for $10,000 first.

But seriously, self-taught ma is lame. If you're seriously interested in martial arts, go to a school and see the way they are meant to be taught, Im sure you'll enjoy it.

I told u i went to skool, i dont like it. Once u alrady kno how to kick/punch/grapple/ than rest becomes cardio, i enjoy sparring and the competition, but there is no need to take 5 years of something that u can teach ur self.

Its like this, ur playing tekken tag, once u learn the punch/kick/grab/quick tapping skills. U can easily control any char in tekken tag. Lets say ur good wit Brian Fury, his combos are mostly hands+leg, very powerful, but has delays, so u switch to another char like Law, since u alrady kno the basic kicking/punching/grappling, u can start out wit some regular punching and kicking to see how he fights, after u get the hang of it u understand how he fight. yea once u already kno how to kick punch and all that crap u dont need 5 years of it

but hey, im only 17 so yea.

jeez, all one has to do is decipher your spelling and then they'd agree with you that you haven't spent much time in 'skoo'.

Simple, bro... just chill with the funky spelling stuff... it does several things on this forum:

1) SMS spellling with words like 'ur' 'u' 'kno' 'skoo' and 'alrady' irritate people - so they spend more time taking the piss out of your spelling/snytax than they do considering what your actually saying... meaning you get little to no mileage out of your posts.

2) People do not take you seriously if you can't be bothered to use proper spelling. It doesn't take much extra effort to actually spell a word properly.
If you can't be bothered to put the effort in why should people be bothered to respond your post instead of just derailing the thread with criticisms of your wonky spelling?

3) Coming onto a forum where most people are very serious about their MA/training and saying that you have learned via books and video games is not the best way to ingratiate yourself with the community. Chill for a bit, get the vibe, and then try to post intelligently.

If you're seventeen that's fine... but don't use that as an exscuse to spell poorly or post nonsense... most people after having read your post would have guessed you were younger by far than seventeen.

Are you trying to tell me you are a master of "kick[ing] punch[ing] and all that crap"?

Obviously you are not. So your intire arguement is flawed. You still dont know everything about "the basic kicking/punching/grappling", so what are you trying to say?

Time for "skool" kiddo.

EDIT:

Where did you learn to grapple, if you were only in TKD? Hahaaaa

LOL

Seriously, you have just won the dumbest post of the year award.

You think you can learn to do aero kicks from reading books and posts on the internet? LOL, how old are you 4?

You really need to go back to school and finish yr 5, might make your posts both easier to understand and a bit more intelligent. You dont learn how to fight by reading, or all the aspiring ninjas would be amazing thanks to reading Ashida Kims books.

Your 17? LOL you seriously dont sound it. Most 17 yr olds I know, know the difference between reality and fiction.

Life is not Tekken. Pushing buttons with your thumb isnt going to make you be able to do the moves, even if you watch them frame by frame for years. The character in the game is probably not even doing the moves right anyway.

The reason you go to a MA school after you have learned punch/kick/grapple is so that you can perfect them. I dont do TKD but I'm pretty sure you cant learn all the basics by brown belt. It is certanly not just "cardio" after you get that far. If it was like that, 90% of people here would have quit there schools.

Yeh, guess we could boycott out training and just spend our whole time reading how to fight. Might even do it with a nice shiraz, 1997 was a good year.
