Uni in September

Hi there, I'm off to university in September so I obviously won't be able to continue my Kung Fu where I live. I do wish to continue a martial art of some kind, and as I'l be in uni for 3-4 years, I want to take one up, and have a good bash at it.

I'm going to the University of Wales, Swansea. I was wondering if any of you guys and gals out there know of/go to any good MA schools in the area around the uni.

I'm not sure what style of MA i'm after, but I do enjoy Kung Fu atm, so perhaps something close to that?

I looked into Wing Chun awhile back and thought it to be a great style. I actually contacted Sifu Michael Arnold before, back when he had an older site up. I didn't realise that the new site had been finished.

I'll probably check that one out when I get down to Swansea, because its a style I've found fasinating, and its also pretty close to the university itself, which helps :P

I have trained with Sifu Mike before. He is such a nice guy and extremely humble, but undoubtedly a truly awesome fighter too. I would definitely recommend him. However, I would also advise you to check out as many different schools/styles as possible to find what suits you best. It is good and very interesting to see what is out there. Good Luck.

You're right about looking around, I know. I'm really not sure what MA I would be suited to. I've heard people say things like "That MA wasn't really for me.." or something similar. Thing is, I'm new to the arts in general, and not sure what IS for me....

I've been searching for awhile now, and all I seem to get is Wing Chun. I mean, it seems like a great style, its just I'd like to check out a few different classes/schools of other MA to see what suits me best.

Is there anything else is Swansea at all - other than WC?

I think I've come across one or two Karate schools, but they're slightly out of reach (as I'm restricted to walking ). So I' pretty confined to the main Swansea area.

With the University MA, its hard to tell if they'll be any good, untill I get there. The Karate one - one of the only MA ones with a website - doesn't look like its around anymore, as the email I send doesn't get anywhere (as in their email address is no-existent).

I'll be in Uni for 3 - 4 years, and really want to study a MA, but don't want to do one just for the sake of it. I want to do one that I can enjoy too...
