That's what's bothering me, I already have the power, so doing all the basic empty hand training again would be a waste of time.

The problem is, the body mechanics in Karate are very different to that of most Kung-Fu systems, which in themselves have vast variation.

You would have to learn to move in a certain way that would allow you to use the weapons effectively.

The best bet would be either to learn a Japanese MA weapon or if you would like to learn a CMA weapon, then go to a seminar.

I'm already learning, or am going to be learning japanese weapons. I just like the chinese ones too. I mean, if I have to learn empty handed stuff to do it, I will, but I was just hoping I wouldn't have to.

Well there are classes that let you train weapons fairly early on, you just have to seek them out and enquire what the syllabus is.

Ask some of yopur local teachers about private lessons and maybe they will let you learn what you want. If not there is always video.

So you have the power....lol
do you mean like " I'm already in shape and I can punch hard"
so you can learn kung fu weapons? If so, your 50% right, 50% wrong...

In hung gar, the sifu would never teach you weapons without a certain knowledge, simply because the body use the weapon, you must first learn to use the body. (just meaning kung fu weapons use kung fu movement)

But you would not learn any unarmed way of fighting, just things like
stances mostly, and karate might help, but I've seen many karateka
having LOADS of trouble learning kung fu, for they generally are
way too different.

But then again I know so called sifus who would teach you a way of using dao and jiang... but its not kung fu....
So you could learn chinese weapon, but not the chinese way.

If you want to use the weapons and you don't really care for it to be traditionnal or even chinese, you could without trouble.
But for the real chinese art, I think you would need a little adaptation at least first.

BTW, what weapon do you want to learn?
(dont tell me tai-chi sword... karateka can NEVER learn taichi sword
without learning kung fu, believe me, lolll.....)

The power used in WC is significantly different than in other MA's (please before everyone flames me note I said different not better) the power generation for the Butterfly knives and the Gwan in Wing Chun is going to be different than the power you have been used to. Try some northen style wapons forms, they would suit you better I think.

Kung Fu is based far more on fancy body postures and so on rather than in karate where there is basically one fighting stance that works

I know like any style, kung fu is effective when done right, I have a lot of respect for it. By "i already have the power" i mean I am already quite a good unarmed fighter, and I am a very adaptable person, so I think if I had to I could learn unarmed kung fu pretty fast. I was simply asking if there were any chinese weapon systems for only weapons, where I wouldn't need to do much unarmed stuff, because I don't need it to make me a good fighter, I didn't mean to say that kung fu fighting is not good enough, because it is. Apparently from your posts, I need to know unarmed fighting before I do weapons, so if that's the way it is, then that's the way it is.

its not so much as simply learning how to be an unarmed fighter it is developing the necessary power to be able to focus that power to a point ie weapon tip etc

Granted, but getting a "feel" for the movements can happen in a matter of hours. It's not like having to learn it from the beginning.
