Cool Do you own a Ninja uniform (Shinobi Shozoko)?

I know there are other threads on this but they all pretty much just talk about, "I want an authentic one. Where can I get one?" I don't want to talk about that.
My question is, "Do you own a ninja uniform?" Authentic or one that is a modern style. Not the Halloween costum or a ninja uniform that shines when just the littlest of light touches it. I'm talking about the ones that are made out of cotton. Comes with pants, jacket with inner pockets, mask/hood, belt, and anything else it might of came with. Like tabi, gaunlets, etc.

Bonus Question: Have you altered your uniform? Or modified it?

I'm still looking. But I know what I want. Medium to heavy cotton. Black is alright but Steel Blue would be my color if I could choose it. Still I could always make my own (Has anyone made their own uniform?). Mask and hood seperate. Would want the mask or mask/hood to cover the neck or at least part of it. Besides that, I don't think I'm too picky. I'd like inner pockets of the jacket. I'm not sure if I should get velcro or metal hooked tabi. I know there is a thread on it. Velcro is too loud, you get crap stuck in the velcro too easily, and something about they sole doesn't last too long. Then the metal hook come undone if you move around too much. But, those things don't really matter to me, since I want to take off the velcro/hooks and put a zipper there instead. Still, which tabi would be good to buy if I was going to modify them? Or does it not matter?
Also, there are other things I wish they'd make for the uniform like, leather guarded gaunlets and boot/leather style tabi. That'd be cool.

There was a uniform like this worn, there are several photos of masaaki hatsumi wearing one, also look in Koga's ninja museum.

I hate these type of threads..

I read the article, therailnutter. And I'm sorry you hate these types of threads, ns oni. But you MUST remember I DID NOT say authentic, original, or mid-evil style. I said what type and do you have a ninja uniform. I don't care if it is authentic to history or if it is authentic to moives. Either way it is still a ninja uniform.
Personally, to me I don't like the historical mask and the zoki (sandal) tabi. Everything else I'd like to have or stay true to the historical ninja uniform.

LOL! Sorry but I don't have time for that Sorry if I offended you, that really was not my intention.

EDIT: Just to explain my actions: I have seen tons of people type mid-evil or midevil, and it's just plain silly for me, you see I'm a linguist (though not a native english speaking linguist, but interested in languages anyway) and the words mid and evil just don't have any semantic connection to the medieval times... If you see what I mean. I mean mid+evil = 15th century? Was the 15th century somehow middle-evil, like the people were'nt good or evil, they we're sort of middle-evil It's just funny and I have always corrected people about that specific mistake, I don't know, maybe it's my personal calling or something... to correct all mid-evil/midevil spellings in the world. Believe me lots of people mispell medieval like that. Maybe you could call me crazy?

-John

Well, if you don't care if it's authentic, then it's none of our business what you wear. As long as you aren't going around telling people it's real Ninja wear, then it all comes down to whatever floats your boat.

You know... My ninja uniform is made out of rabbit fur. I like it fluffy.

Nah... I've never owned one of those in my life. My Ninja uniform = whatever's casual and concealing(jeans and a t-shirt are good). You should try it sometime. You won't get harassed walking through a mall in those clothes. Heh.

Buy the metal tab ones. Buy them a half size (or in the case of Japanese sizes a full size) small. They will stretch and when broken in, fit just like a second skin. Had my first pair for near 12 years before they finally gave out. Second pair disappeared before I could wear them out.
Leather ones? Leather toed, yes. I've seen them for sale on eBay a few times. There was a person in Florida a few years back who would make custom leather tabi. I'm still trying to find the name and address.

i wear a lightweight longsleeve dri-star shirt with thumbholes in the sleeves to give the same effect as those things that cover the backs of your hands. ive seen them worn quite a bit in hatsumi's books. anyway, i also wear cotton cargo pants that have been cut not to drag the ground when wearing tabi boots, and i safety pin them at the bottom to get the "large thighs" effect you see in all those games and on hayes's site, so they dont slide against my knees as much. i cut the bottom half off of an old t-shirt to use as a mask when stealth training. i have some wacoku tabi boots; they dont fit too well, but theyre all i have found. i should be getting some hakama soon, too. any tips on getting this stuff to fade to gray? the hakama will be dark blue, but the rest is black, and i'm a little worried about trying bleach, since i dont want it all splotchy, or too white, since i wear a lot of this stuff to school too (not the tabi, lol). also, can anyone post something of the right shade? i dont have a lot of money to use experimenting. if you dont know how, just save a pic as "hakama.jpg" or "shozoku.jpg" and then use the manage attachments button. you may have to 'triple click' it.

I agree with Kura here, the metal tab stitched soled ones are the best, the velcro ones are cheap and slip off, try ippon supplies or japanhandicrafts.com they both do htem and ippon do the leather toe ones.

As for the gi, just a medium weight black gi for me and my students, if they get a ninja one they dont wear it for training, well, no one has been brave enough yet!
