[QUOTE=basf12]does anyone know how to do tornado kick it
is like u jump and spin in the air for 540 degrees and then u execute a reverse swing kick It is similar although the way we do it is a 360 degree rotation and the object is to jump as little as possible. It is almost turning on the ball of your front foot 180 degrees with the momentum of the spin generating the power in your kick along with the rotation of your hips. The kick is with the front foot and begins just ofter the first 180 degrees of the turn. The kick is more like a roundhouse. It done for demo purposes then you can do the kick higher which would look similar to the 540. Except it is tougher to land on the kicking leg without the extra 180 spin for momentum. It is also good kick for sparring however you want to spin low and fast to get around quick. Kenal0 |

This sounds too much like something taken from a game.
Anybody knows how to do hurricane punch?

Actually there are two versions, neither of which I do well. Either a 360 or a 540 kick. I like to fall down in both. Well not really like to fall down, I just do....

A one footed 360 roundhouse/ crescent kick or "tornado" kick. From your right foot back, left foot forward, and body facing to the side, or right open stance. Take a full step forward with your right foot. Pivot on your right foot only and spin counter-clockwise with your left foot off the ground. Immediately jump off your right foot, kick out to the front with a crescent/roundhouse kick and continue to spin around counter-clockwise. Land on the kicking foot and continue to spin in the same direction to complete. When practicing advance to jumping up as much as possible as opposed to taking steps to move forward. In other words, build upward momentum and not forward momentum. Practice the sweeping 360 continuously!... kicking really fast is important. Use your arms to help you swing you body around quickly, building torque. You have to tuck in your non-kicking leg. Keep your body facing to the front during most of the actual kicking, that way you keep pressure off of your landing foot. Use your hips to turn over. If you already have good sweeping 360s, then this should aready be automatic. Try shortening the kick if you have trouble bringing your kicking leg all the way around. Start with a bent leg crescent then work yourself up to a crescent then roundhouse kick |

well you don't "have to" let's change that to try tucking your non-kicking leg for starters ... I just suggested that because it does help when just learning this kick.
Seems like alot to bear in mind when performing this type of kick but now I can do one without thinking of the mechanics involved. |

yea, when learning this kick i remember falling alot coz i would get certain parts but then slip up on one part or another
like i would let my nonkicking leg drag and this would end up in me falling or i would get everything perfect but then not jump high enough and land on my back

lol, I did a 360 one on accident that is not taught in my dojang. The instructor was pad holding and said "I said do a jump spin heel not a tornado kick" . I had no idea what she was talking about but now I do thx
. I used the wrong leg, heh.

The 360 Tornado kick is very useful in sparring because for instance the opponent throws a roundhouse and you just do the tornado kick but the stance may vary if your in a normail stance or in southpaw.
