probably the worst but best payed job ive had was working for a company doing gas maintenance and water treatment systems on landfill sites. the smells where horrible, we ran pipes up hills of rubbish, waded through waste high muddy water and sludge. cut into natural gas pipes to re-cap them basically stank of sulfur and warm egg. dug 10ft trenches without support beams and almost had them collapse on us, cleaned water filters with acid that would spit all over your face and burned like hell. and we would be constantly outside and travel all over the country up at 3 in the morning and arrive around 7/8 to start work till 5/6. rain, snow, wind didnt hold us back. it was horrible work but i kinda miss the team work and because i was 17 i was happy to make 800 after tax per month. that was my worst job but its undeniable mitches was definitely worse

I had to work in the snow on a building site. Only for a day when I was about 19. Never again! Guess I've been lucky reading this thread.

When I was in the army and posted to Iraq, the drainage system in the portakabins broke down. Yours truly was given the pleasurable task of dragging out the containers, scraping it into a barrel with a shovel, dousing it in gasoline and then setting it on fire. I had to stay with the barrel at all times to make sure there wasn't a "fire hazard" (!), which meant I was covered head to toe in poop-flavoured soot.

The snow...... It was cold!...................and.....and I had to drive a hire car without air-con this summer for two days. It was hot!
