    You really think?

I think he has subconcious emotional instability that causes him to do this, in a way to reassure himself. Commercialism and modern society have taught him he is special, an individual, and thus needs to define himself. This is delusional, however, and we're all worthless. Though it's hard to just delete that underlying pattern we've created, some people need to feed it in ways such as this.

This is a good point. Though I might not be seeing the same "point" you're talking about.

I have a Thai wife and, sorry sweetheart, she's an idiot - I wouldn't trust her to know the first thing about ANYTHING in Thailand. Being a foreigner coming to a foreign land, you have an unusual task - rather than growing up in a culture and barely even realizing it's there just because it's what you see everyday, the foreigner will realize every point, because he's not used to seeing it, it strikes him.

Some people often try to say foreigners do not understand the local culture - on the contrary, I think they make the best experts in these matters, because they've been forced to study it in order to assimilate it - they've been forced to recieve it and react to that. Locals never get this sort of experience.

Sometimes it consumes you - I guess I study social and political sciences in Thailand (personally), and also Thai culture. I know more about it than most the locals do, I know that.

Not in defense of Cummings or anything, just stating that not being a native speaker can actually be an advantage. Though you still have to take years and years of living in the area and studying it to become competant - Cummings has a long way to go, to say the least.

Damn his pronunciation is bad. I can only understand a few words in Japanese, but I can pronounce all the sounds better than this clown can.

The problem is that Cummins is applying the same methodologies from the west to the east that even in the west are flawed.

For example here in the UK sir names were often tied into jobs (Carpenter, Cooper, Fletcher, Baker, Mason etc) which are linked to our possible past (But not always) An excellent example of this is Ken Folletts 'Pillars of the earth' where we meet Tom Builder, or Tom the Builder, who builds the cathedral. Even an internet search shows that the name 'Cummins' came from farmers who planted Cummin seeds.

Or linked to places such as (Cornwall, Bedford etc) or a local spot i.e the village green e.g David of the Green or today 'David Green' There are of course exceptions to this such as my name (Arthur) but many are linked to jobs or places.

However even here in the west its not so simply as that because if it was we would expect everyone to be called Archer or Knight as undoubtably our ancestors fought in battles, and names are passed by the male line. but this is a nonsence because many archers had names like Thomas of the Green (Thomas Green), or 'Robin of Locksley'

And I'm sure there were many Greens, Browns, Cornwalls, Bishops, Cummins, Arthurs, Smiths, Smithers, Roleys, and even Mangas that fought on the battlefield and gained military skill but they didnt change their name to Archer or Knight. Instaed they probably kept the names of their profession or place of origin as warfare in a feudal society was a seasonal affair.

Now if I really want to find out my heritage I have to do a little thing called 'Research'. This means going back into records and working step by step backwards into the past.

Saying Togakure Ryu could not have existed because one cannot find a person by the name of Suzuki the Ninja, or Yamaha of Togakure Ryu is ludicrous. And I suspect that there were many samurai that were not called Honda the samurai either but it doesnt mean that certian clans or samurai ryu didnt exist.

Oriares said - "I always assumed your sig was meant as a compliment."

In the original context of the post in which Antony Cummins/Ninpei made the comment, it was most definitely intended as an insult/attack. I however saw it as a compliment

    Gary...
Even if we didn't have the same practice in the UK, the Japanese system for names stands on it's own, it always has, as one that is based almost entirely from place names...Small places, now non-existant places, imaginary places, and actual places where the family was based are ALL used as Japanese surnames..From "佐藤" (Being a branch of the Fujiwara family I believe), through to "馬場", almost ALL Japanese names were originally based on locations...
It's as redundant as saying Togakure Ryu is fiction because Takamatsu wasn't called "Togakure Toshitsugu"....Absolutely pathetic..And even if the English didn't have the same tradition, a short read of Japanese names would allow anyone with more than one brain cell to see that..
Hence my "he's an idiot" phrase...There's no need to write as much as you did...I said it before, the fact that it even needs explaining to him shows what a complete moron he is....
The problem is that the Togakure Ryu's claim on lineage IS a rather hard one to prove, and if he was smarter he could (perhaps?) come up with a lot more solid ways to show how the strings are rather loose..Instead, he settles with an attempt a five year old fan of Anime would see through..
Sorry..Just bringing this up again ****es me off..

It was my fault for bringing it up. I just can't stand people who claim objective research and proceed to make subjective fallacies one after the other. Even some of the posters who claim to be researchers (who are just reading wikipedia and Japan wikipedia) who say things like "that history reminds me of a fictional story from such and such. I think Takamatsu probably got it from that..." :bang: How the f&%@ is a statement like that objective or research based?

I'm probably just a little sore at having been reminded how moronic youtube can be.

Who you talking about because most of the posters on here seem to be talking from a position of knowledge.

The person who wrote what I mentioned above. There are definitely people with inside knowledge about Japan and Japan's history that are posting, please don't get me wrong. But I very much feel that even those people are taking that information and drawing up conclusions with a pre-decided agenda already in place. This is not everybody on the thread, and I apologize if I made it sound like I was saying that. I came on too strong.

Then quote the people who you feel are doing this.

That way you avoid confusion and give people a chance to defend their position.

Never let it be said that Manga doesn't have a sense of the dramatic :hat:

Further proof of Antony's lies and fraud are about to be dragged into the daylight.

    Your song is ending Antony.

I want you all to cast your minds back to the various threads about Antony Cummins earlier this year. Think about a certain photo in particular that caused us all to raise our collective eyebrows.

I've attached it here for those who don't recall. More to follow :hat:

Think about how he claimed that this photo was taken during training in Japan.

As of today he is still making that claim on his website.

Here's the url of the full image for reference.

Note this screengrab, showing the text associated with the image? "One of the many days of kobudo practice." Note how the image is clearly and unequivocably in the Japan folder?

Remember how we all discussed in those earlier threads how the background didn't seem to fit Japan? About how the brickwork and flora seemed more indicative of northern England? Such as Manchester where Antony Cummins is based?

Just to whet your appetite, look at this attached image, showing some very similar architecture. Pay attention to the pillars but pay special attention to the capstones (is that the correct term?)

Are we seeing anything familiar? Different brickwork though so maybe it's a giant coincidence?

Still with me? Very well

First things first. Look at the post number of this particular post.

That's how fracking good I am :hat:

Now, before I go any further. I want to make it clear that I have deliberately witheld certain information such as Antony Cummins' address because as much as I think he's a fool, personal overrides internet witch hunts. Therefore I have blacked out or simply not included any information with which Antony Cummins' personal details could be worked out. Although I have those details, as far as I am concerned, they've done their job and will now be deleted.

Now, remember the hakama picture? The stone wall in the background appears to enclose part of his garden. Similar walls, albeit with different brickwork but similar capstones (EDIT - See the picture above) divide parts of his property from that of farmland next door.

The photo was taken in part of his garden, looking through some fir trees towards some farm buildings just across a small lane.

How do I know this? I have his address and other personal details and they match the address of this location. The location from where the photo was taken is a rough guess based on the contents of the photo's background.

Antony lied about the location that photo was taken in, adding yet another example of his lies and deceit regarding his martial arts background.

    My work here is done.

Since there may be some of the guys that follow Tony's rantings on youtube reading this thread, I think it important to point out something. If you can't read Japanese (like Tony) you might not be able to tell that all those characters at the end of Ben "fifthchamber" Sharple's signature tell us that he studies another Japanese art, not Bujinkan and not ninjutsu. A lot of times in the past Tony has tried to actually use the criticism he gets from Bujinkan folks as some sort of 'proof' that he is onto something and that the Bujinkan is only reacting to shut him up. You can't say that about Ben.

And he needs to learn the language.

These latest, painful clips of him just show how little he knows about traditional Japanese martial arts. The key thing is, he is going to be the person commenting on traditional Japanese martial arts for the book coming out. Not only is he not the translator, but these clips kind of show that we can't expect him to excel in his stated position.

Instead of trying to rush something out, he should at least take enough time to get fluent in the language and digest the stuff he reads for the years that would take him. Instead, we see flawed product after flawed product and he spends more time marketing and defending what he does than he puts into actual study. Sad.

Oh, and Manga, as always you are awesome! :hail:
