Bob Johnson
Quote:
May i just ask what you guys are trying to do exactly. I think your lack of respect for any master of any martial art is frankly disgusting. Refering to each other as brother is cute, but shouldnt you encompass that into all styles? Secondly there are two clubs in England that practice Fu Jow Pai white tiger kung fu. One is in Leicester city centre, the other is on the out skirts, in two places, South Wigston and Newparks this is the one i go to. The site that you guys have been slating is not actually anything to do with Bob Johnson. This club we have visited, and it is totally different to what we do. Rest assured we will be paying them another visit in the near future. Bob Johnson was a master in Muka Baza Binot and White tiger. He studied at The Chinese Ripping school and Shansi boxing school. Sadly Bob died a number of years ago, the highest sifu over here is Gordon Hooke. We are not affiliated with the BCCMA or anyother institution that governs what we do for a fee. This is because it is not a style that will be marketed or made money out of. I have seen alot of styles that are based on Shoulin Tiger style which as far as i am aware is what Black Tiger is based on. I think that if you guys want to personally attack some one, you should do your homework alot more thoroughly, then perhaps you should come to our club and see our style first. Bob Johnson was an amazing man, and his kung fu skills were second to none. Perhaps you should see his style as opposed to imagining that you 'own' Kung Fu. Kung Fu is a constantly changing art, it evolves. |

Ok, how did we get to Fu Jow Pai now? I thought it was Hak fu mun? Fu Jow Pai comes from Grandmaster Wai Hung, whom I'm very good friends with. Are you now saying This Bob Johnson learned from Wai Hung? I can ask him this weekend if necessary. Also, why do you refer to Fu Jow as "White Tiger"? That is extremely inaccurate!! White Tiger is Bak Fu Pai, and is from Doo Wai and it's history is questionable. It seems that the kung fu out of the UK is mostly made up and not traditional. I have a friend that teaches traditional White Crane over there. Perhaps I should post his info so you good students can find a real good teacher!!

I do have one question: How are you learning from the sifu in HK? Are you doing some kind of video correspondence? Or are you spending time with him? Cause I can tell you it's impossible to truly learn from video alone!! It's gonna be a long, hard road doing it that way. Best bet is to move to where your sifu lives in China and spend like 2 years training.

as far as i am aware Bob Johnson learned from an F. Wong, who is/was Wai Hongs contemporary under Wong Moon Toy.
My accuracy is limted because all contact with China was lost before i started Kung Fu. The only reason i started joining in this threa is because of the latent lack of respect for kung fu 'brothers'. I dont know what my style is now (in the traditional sense), but i tell you what, i know it kicks ass. Please would you ask Wai Hung if he could find any clues as to our liniage, it would be a great help to me as iv been trying to find it out for a while. Thanks. Oh yeah, tell me more about fu jow pai.... |

Well tell you what, if you can visit NYC I'll introduce you to him! He teaches for free in Cloumbus park in NYC Chinatown every weekend. He just developed a new Gim form that I like a lot. He offered to teach it to me, but I'm too wrapped up in my own style. Wai Hung produced some of the deadliest fighters of the 80s and 90s. He himself was a vicious fighter and ran in the right circles most of his life if you know what I mean. Although I'm only 36, we chat a lot about those old days.

No, but I'll ask him this weekend if he's in town. He's actually in retirement and trying to enjoy it!!
