In those two posts Mitch used quotation marks rather than the quotation function when copying and pasting a sentence you used in

Nothing has been changed. I would be able to see if your original post had been edited by you or anyone else, and Mitch has merely quoted you word for word.

You've not used that specific phrase, but I must have misunderstood your general meaning here:

My impression from your posts is that you believe the only thing you need is to train to fight with someone who has a proven fighting record and from that you'll develop all the skills you need to avoid trouble or fight your way out of it if required and that's all SD is about.

As a basic example there are elbow deflections and strikes that replicate a similar movement to combing the hair.

These movements are a lot more natural and require very little maintenance when compared to trying to learn a punch or kick.

Kicks especially require a lot of practice and maintenance.
This is why jwt (among others) recommend strikes and deflections that resemble natural movements.

As someone who has trained with jwt and had his mouth split open while wearing a very expensive helmet specially designed for RBSD and having been visibly shaken to the core during that attack, I can say categorically that the answer is yes he does.

Badger Ladder, I'm losing track here in regard to exactly what is and isn't being claimed.

Not your fault, it's just that we seem to be going to and fro here and getting in a mess.

Could you post in regard to what your beliefs are, especially since we have had several pages of explanation on both sides.

It would be nice to see exactly what your viewpoint is now you've had a chance to digest the views of jwt, Mitch and I.

Is it claimed this way of hitting or moving is special in any way and you dont learn it in fighting arts?

I can agree with that example of combing the hair for a starting point but what about the maintenace of timing, anticipation, of using it in combination, of speed and power, of intent etc etc. That all requires maintenance. Are you saying that because a person can comb their hair they can then elbow stike and thats all thats required?

I know I am being picky but my point is that on a physical level I am saying learn to fight with reputable fighters, full contact, and i dont feel you guys are agreeing on that point..so your physical side of SD cant be learning to fight or you are contradicting yourselves and if its not learning to fight its probably the usual SD stuff thats too compliant to be used in seriouse chaotic violence.
