Ok guys i want all of you to post threads about what jkd is to you. In all the other threads everyone is arguing about what jkd is and isn't. everyone has a different approach or interpretation of it because they are individual. so i would very much like to read evryone's different approach to it and what it means to them. I also think it would be a good idea for all of you to also read each others thread because you might learn something new or at least appreciate that everyone has a individual concept of it.

BL wrote if people say that jkd is different from "this" or from "that" then let the name of jkd be wiped out, for that is what it is, just a name. Please don't fuss over it.

The problem is that for all those spotty little kids who want to be Bruce Lee, an art which seems superficially to encourage an ecclectic mix of styles can only make their delusions more grandiose and Byzantine.

VERY well said Random_kid :D

JKD is experiential - which is a posh way of saying "Shaddap and train!"

I always thought that JKD was as individual as the people that use it. Surely no two "strains" of JKD are exactly the same.???

This has already been hashed out pretty well in this thread: http://www.martialartsplanet.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1779

To me, JKD is water, and each exponent is a very different cup.

"Jeet Kune Do favors formlessness so that it can assume all forms and since Jeet Kune Do has no style, it can fit in with all styles. As a result, Jeet Kune Do utilizes all ways and is bound be none and, likewise, uses any techniques or means which serve its end."
- Bruce Lee

That is Jeet Kune Do. My interpertation of it. Well, that's hard to say when it is based on emptyiness; void. It is all about reactions. Becoming the perfect fighter. It almost reminds me of Ninjutsu's martial art Taijutsu. The part about void and whatever works use it. It is a nice bonus to whatever martial art you are using. I suggest you to read, "Tao of Jeet Kune Do." To get a better idea of what Bruce Lee made Jeet Kune Do to be.
