what does aikido include?

hi im new her on MAP and i want to join a martial art. i was wondering what things you would do and use in aikido. i want to do a martial art which includes fighting (any sort) but which also uses a weapon at some piont. does anybody know what things you do and use in aikido?

Aikido is frustrating and painful to learn.

Many, many hundreds of hours of practice are needed to make even small advances.

One or 2 years Aikido will not equip you to defend yourself most likely. At least 4 or 5 years at the minimum is required.

Weapons are a part of aikido, but aikido does not train you to use weapons.

Best just to train and not think about what happens later. It's all worth it :)
