Is not all the time, but every once a while I have muscle pain the day after I had my karate lesson. My theory is that I haven't done enough exercise before the lesson, however we start with a warm up exercise. confused no?

It sounds like DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) and is perfectly natural if you are doing movements your muscles aren't used to. There are a number of ways to help with it. I find a protein shake after a workout helps with mine, as does a hot bath. Cold showers/baths can also help or even alternating hot and cold showers/baths. Making sure you're eating properly and getting enough sleep can also help. If it's localised to a small area you could try heat or ice packs (or alternating heat and ice). Making sure you do a proper cool down/stretching session at the end of the class can also help. If it's really severe an ibuprofen tablet can help with the pain.
