I just closed mine :D
It was only just a touch but there was a definite dink as I did it. I'm going to work on it until I can hold it shut for a count and possibly get a #3.5 to play with then think about getting officially tested.

Wow! Bring it over next session and we'll get a video up if you're able to repeat it.

Coma, you rock! Congratulations! With my grip, I'd be lucky to close the beginner one!

Will do, though I've been overdoing it today and my CNS will probably be fried! Plus this is the first time so it'll take a bit more work until I'm confident I can repeat it. I should be able to get it close enough to 'prove' though, I never found grip progression to be anywhere near linear, if I plotted lbs closed vs time the trend would be up but the line would look like it was drawn by a 5 year old with parkinsons!

Fair enough, and yeah, grip training is a bit like that from my limited experience.
I'll have the camera on standby just in case though. :D

I feel like I should get your autograph.
Seriously, I have a pair of #3 COCs that I have never closed. I know very well how impressive your grip strength is sir.
Congrats!

Cheers guys, it's strange to think I once struggled with the #1 and now I can just about get the 280lb monster I optimistically bought all those years ago closed.

Awesome. I was battling the #3 for a while but sadly neglected my grippers for a while, so now I'm barely getting the #2 again. Looks like I need to get moving.
Good work!

Awesome on closing the #3. I am still trying for the #2.5.
What set are you using? It used to be that 1" was good enough to certify but with the credit card rule, the list is not growing that fast of the guys who can officially close it.

Your grips as strong as a pit bulls jaw then.
I might start using my #1.

I'm honestly not close enough yet, it was a simple touch of the handles and it'll be a while before I can hold it closed.

So I'm intrigued.
What should I start with to reach these dizzy heights of grippage?
I've got an old plastic handled gripper from Argos on my deask and occasionally do some reps with that (20+ easily with each hand). I've also got some squidgy balls I squeeze from time to time.
I've had a look at what CoC gripper to start with but I have no idea. I don't do weights or consider myself to have a strong grip at all (and recenlty had some tendonitis in the my left elbow related to gripping).
I don't wanna waste £22 quid on the wrong gripper.
Any advice guys?

When I started I could do over a hundred reps on a store bought junky gripper. It said it was fifty pounds, but that doesn't mean a whole lot. I had a hard time with the Trainer. Based on that and your 20+ #, I would say you get the Sport as your working gripper and the Trainer as your challenge gripper.

Get the #1. It'll be hard as hell, but at least you wont spend good money on a gripper that you close in a week.

Another option is David Horne's Vulcan gripper. It is adjustable from the equivalent of the Trainer to the #4. I have not used one but I have heard that it is very good. David Horne is well respected in the grip world.

Ooofff....£50+?!?
Does look like a top piece of kit though. I wonder if I can get Santa to bring me one for Chrimbo? :)

If you think that is bad, don't get into blob(1/2 of york dumbell) training. You could buy a cheap car building up your collection of those.
