Okay, so I used to lift quite a bit in my youth. A - B plan 4 days a week, got down to 9 or 10% body fat, etc.
Then I got married and went pleasantly to pieces. However I don't want to fall too far, so recently (about 5 months ago) I started lifting again. And yes, I'm going somewhere with this.
So right now I do a full body workout 3 days a week. I'm beta-testing the one set muscle failure approach to lifting (new studies indicate that muscle growth and strength gains of people doing one set of exercises to complete muscle failure equal more traditional methods - since there is only one of me, I can't compare results, but I've bulked back up pretty quickly and strength has also increased significantly)
After my 3 day a week workout, I do HIIT work, which is a mixture of a heavy bag and a jump rope. All good so far.
However lately I've been spending quality time on a heavy bag on my off days. I call it "training time". A good 30 minutes getting my aggression out, working on form and function both. Is this too much for an off day? Or is it acceptable? I don't really have time to move it to my lifting day, as I work from home and only have a lunch break long enough for my lifting/HIIT work.
Gracias!
