Can I stay small and get stronger by doing pull-ups, tricep pull-ups, diamond push-ups, planche pushups, handstand pushups, jumping squats, running about 7 miles a day, and eating normally? I'm talking about Bruce Lee small.

ROTFLMAO!!!
What on God's green earth does 'Bruce Lee small' mean? Reality check. With the work out regimen you've listed above you're not in any remote chance of 'getting big'... not a chance in hell. In fact with that sort of a workout you're looking at staying Tinkerbell small. lol.
Seriously the above workout is poorly planned. You really need more variety and movement in different planes. You have only pushing motion for the most part and no pulling motion. You're looking at massive imbalance in your workout routine that will lead to a pretty big imbalance in your physique.

You run 7 miles a day I don't think you have to worry too much about a big increase in mass!
Anyway, your biggest size/strength gains occur in the first year of training.Unless you eventually train specifically for mass,or do something like the dreaded 20 rep squat routine I wouldn't worry about getting too big.
Are you trying to keep your weight down to stay in a certain division in wrestling or boxing or somesuch?

Rikkru, lifting weights does not make you big, eating makes you big. Have you any idea how much food is consumed by a serious weightlifter? Massive amounts, every two hours for some. That in conjunction with weights will make you big. In addition you could eat well, train hard but not get in the correct rest and still not make the gains.
Get your self a proper workout regime, eat well and programme in rest days.
Oh and forget about getting to big.

Hello Rikkru welcome to the forum.....What is your definition of big for you, is it weight mainly, or is it the possibility of your body bulking up that you want to avoid.

What is it with people who think they'll get big and lean by accident? I've b e trying for years now and it's hard work, if you want to train for years without gaining weight just ask one of the thousands of people who successfully look the same each year even though they religiously train in the gym.

Deadlift, Squat, OHP, Bench Press, Rows, Dips, Chins. 5 x 5.
Plenty of walking or, if you really feel the need to, light jogging as active recovery.
Intersperse with sprint sessions maybe once a week. Tabata if you're feeling hardcore and aren't afraid of a little puking.
That's a sustainable routine that'll make you strong and 'not big'.
There's no need to overcomplicate it. Why do people feel the need to make it complicated?

Why do you want to stay small? Unless you are having to keep your weight down for a specific reasin putting on some quality muscle is a good thing for most people.

A few people I asked, if they start a weight training program, they think they will get buig. The big factor to them in getting big, is that they think over time, the big-large will turn into fat.

And planning on dying soon? Don't forget that Bruce Lee has lost some weight in the last 37 years.
Unless the OP posts back and says why he wants to stay small there's not a lot of sensible advice we can give. If he wants to compete in a specific weight class then fair enough. However, if it's a case of "I don't want to be too big" then I can see a whole load of posts saying things like "I want to earn money, but not too much" and "I want to meet a nice girl, but not too nice".
Actually, that last one kinda makes sense.

Notice when you do a lot your biceps hurt?
Seriously though mate, there is no risk of you getting too big.
Look at ronnie coleman you probably think he is too big, do you think he got like that by accident? or do you think he dedicated his life to becoming that big?
Frankly if i bodybuilt I would be insulted you feel it's that easy.
If you're that worried about hypertrophy then do somethig like 5x5 but if you're actually running 7 miles a day then i don't think weight gain is the issue, overtraining could be.

Anything's possible, but probably not. This a common misconception, that strength increase = massive size.
Just tell any woman who doesn't know about this stuff to do squats.:eek:They think their thighs will rival Tom "Quadzilla" Platz's.
You can't really blame people.Look at the covers of most of the magazines.Huge bods. And certainly nothing that says "You will never look like this guy/gal without steroids + the right genetics".
Many people do think it looks weird.I've read more than one competition bodybuilder's account of overhearing less than flattering comments when out shopping or taking a stroll while just dressed in street clothing.

Why are some of the so called upper class and the top entertainers so obsessed with looking abnormally thin is this the fashionable thing to be.
Or do they look at someone who has more weight as piggish and crude.
Even slight extra weight is frowned on in some circles.
This may have something to do with the mindset of being big.You see examples of this everywhere.
No reflection on the OP btw just a personal observation.

There is an odd occurrence common with a lot of women who'll claim all day they don't like a bit of muscle on a man, though when a guy with a little muscle says hi to them in a bar it's a completely different story.
The problem is that some guys believe them and think that this is what they should do instead of the intuitive thing that guys should have a bit of strength and muscle.

Apparently it's dependant on the time of the month.
My girlfriend read that in Cosmo, apparently they're attracted to skinny guys one week in four when they're looking for a good husband and biologically handicapped to do what the guys hoping for anyway.
In my experience there's also a difference between what average girls are attracted to and what hot ones are attracted to, although when it's a model or pinup with his six pack out in an advert suddenly it's fine to say they're hot. I've always suspected it's because average ones justify to themselves that not going after the alpha males in a group is a conscious decision rather than think that they're losing out to the hot ones. This crosses over nicely with how many women instantly dislike attractive women and will happily whisper derogatory claims about them behind their backs.
I can't say this is always the case but I've seen it so often it becomes a joke after a while.

Let's also not forget that there is a sliding scale* when it comes to muscularity. It certainly is possible (although far far harder than some people seem to think) to become "too big". I think it was Chris Shugart who described meeting a pro bodybuilder at an airport and watching this huge behemoth of a man sweating, panting and struggling to simply carry his luggage out of the terminal because he was hampered by the sheer weight of the muscles he'd built up. Regardless of how true this story may or may not be, saying you don't want to get "too big" because people like that exist is like saying you're not going to go to work on Monday morning because you're afraid of becoming a multi-millionaire and having to spend the rest of your life living as a recluse in a country mansion fielding multiple requests for charity handouts every day.
When someone says "I just don't want to be big because well... it's weird ;D" you can be pretty sure that either a) they're thinking that picking up a barbell with some reasonable weight on it is suddenly going to give them a physique that will shame all the hard work that Arnie put in for years. or b) they're a troll. Probably a skinny one.
* I've thrown that phrase in again for Slip, coz I know how much he loves it. :)

and im not even talking steroids yet......
why do some folks think they are just going to push a few weights and wake up huge....."like awe crap how did this happen....i knew i shouldnt have loaded up 225lbs......well its back to hindu squata and pushups"
5 lbs of lean muscle gain in a year is pretty good...
