Thinking of starting Tai Chi

I am thinking of starting Tai Chi in the Bowling Green or toledo area in ohio if any of you all are from there could you point me in a direction, I am also looking for advice, on whether or not it would go well with aikido (philosophy, spiritually and physically from what I have looked into it does, but then again i haven't been able to really look as of late) I need to know what to look for in tai chi, and anything about those three aspects would be great as well. The most obvious thing to look for in a Tai Chi school is its direction in Tai Chi.

Is it teaching the martial aspect of the art or is it more of a meditation/health type of school.
