funny I see these exact same monkeys on the way to and from my morning PT sessions. I always stop to watch and think how fluidly they move. And what a crazy noise they make early morning as well. For years I thought it was birds making the sounds and then last week I caught a group of them early on... I was surprised. Amazing movement.
According to my understanding... it's not that monkeys have short legs that allow them to swing so easily... it's that humans grew longer legs to enable us to walk upright. So the proportion of our legs to our lats and upper body musculature doesn't work out very well for swinging in trees.
With animals like monkeys and apes and the big cats... I always wonder what % of their body is fast twitch muscle fiber and if they suffer from the same things as humans do with cortisol and all the other endocrine responses that humans have.

Psssh! Big deal! He totally kipped on that muscle up!;)
By the way, they're not our ancestors. We had a common ancestor who I like to liken--in my mind--to Barney Fife so that I can feel good about how far I've come along! I don't need no stinking monkeys taunting me with their astronomical strength to weight ratio.
On a more serious note, I'm always awed by things like this.
