I have an intrest in chinese medecine that I really want to persue, but I can't find any local place that sells the herbs I'm looking for.

If anyone knows of a mail order herb company (if one exists), I'd love to know.

hey-
if there is ANY chinese/japanese/vietnamese markets around your town go there. I have found countless amounts of herbs there. Or go to your local health food store.

I've purchased from Ancient Way Martial Arts Forumulas (http://www.ancientway.com/Pages/MartialArtsFormulas.html)

If you are going to use these herbs for a dit da jow then why waste money on expensive herbs mixtures when you can use herbs native to your region for a fraction of the cost. I made a dit da jow out of herbs that are very common to north america.

This was my first attempt at an iron palm liniment made from western herbs. It helped me when I broke my middle knuckle and injured the other. Both hands healed fast. This is my "all purpose" liniment. I didn't know what the hell I was doing when I went to the herb shop and bought the house. I will post my second recipe which will be better. As of today I have let my mixture sit for about 18 months and it works good, real good.

Use 1 gallon glass jars for liniment

Mix herbs with 4 to 5 Qts. WINTERGREEN alcohol or reular alcohol.

1 container of ANALGESIC GEL like Flex All 454, Ben Gay, or some form of menthol (depending how cold you want it)

1/2 oz. OF EACH
Marshmallow Root
Chamomile
Witch Hazel
St.Johns Wort
Rosemary
White Willow
Sarsaparilla Root
Goldenseal Root
Fenugreek
Nettle
Fennel Seeds
Cramp Bark
Blessed Thistle
Echinacea
Thyme
2 1/2 oz. Celery Seeds
2 1/2 oz. Dandelion Leaves
2-3 Big Ginger Roots
4 1/2 oz. Comfrey
1/2-1 bottle of Aspirin
1 oz. Cayenne Pepper (depending how HOT you want it)
1 cloves of Garlic (stinks at 1st but loses the stink after a while)

If you have any ideas, questions or suggestions about my mix let me know. You can use more or less of whatever you choose but this is somewhat of a "balanced" mix. Yes, the garlic does something. Nothing is in this just to tag along.

I'd be careful doing that-- Chinese herbology is pretty precise. Sounds like you know what you are talking about, though. What is your recipe?
