National Geographic Silat documentary

Hello:

In the last weeks, National Geographic has released a documentary on Malaysian Silat (I don't remember right now, possibly Sufian Bela Diri style?). Anyway, it's part of the Fight Masters series and unlike the Fight Quest one, reviews from malaysians seem to be mostly positive.

I don't have access to the National Geographic channel here, so I've missed the show and its reruns. ¿Does anyone here know where could I watch it? Maybe online resources of some sort, I'm quite interested in it.

i don't think it would be ssbd as it would be on their website and i think that style comes from brunei not malaysia.

The National Geographic program on silat focuses on the Malaysian Penchak silat system of Silat Gayong.. This program features training in this system along with the testing of an american (the highest ranked american in the system) during his last trip to Malaysia..
It has already been seen in the asian side of the world and from what I have heard from acquaintances in Malaysia, it was top notch..

Waiting to see the program when it comes out here..

Thanks Guvnor, but it's not the human weapon series, this is a new one, "Fight Masters". They've done episodes for self defense, MMA and Krav Maga. And SSG, of course! I'll make sure to post any resources I find, but so far, no luck. :(

Hi All,

This series is called Fight Masters and the episode is on Silat, in particular Silat Seni Gayong from Malaysia. It is scheduled to air in SE Asia at the moment. We are trying to get Nat Geo to air this program domestically in the US also.

I've seen the documentary, it's pretty good, but I'm biased. I think is gives an authentic look into Silat Seni Gayong.

I must have missed this one. I think nat geo does some good work on their martial arts series. thanks for posting it.
