GM John Ogden

Alright, everyone that I know seems to know this guy. He's appearing in a Martial Arts Expo in my Dojang next month. Just by saying his name, people get excited. Some even saying that they'll go to the expo "Just to see GM Ogden".

...so...my question is...who is he?

I assume since you mentioned it in the Judo forum tht he's supposed to be a Judo grandmaster. Which is odd, as I've never heard anyone use the term "grandmaster" in Judo circles... Perhaps he's claiming an extremely high grade, in which case it can be checked with the Kodokan and the IJF

i've heard the name somewhere, but i don't know if it was judo related.
one thing is for sure, he's never been world or olympic champion.
i will check european titles this afternoon but i doubt it.

No mention of the word "Grandmaster" on that site, so maybe someone just got the wrong end of the stick and wasn't aware that grandmaster would be such an odd title for a judoka, even a 7th dan.

mmmm, he seems very good, but i wouldn't get excited about meeting him. i would go to a seminar of his if it was being held nearby however.
