Hi, everyone. I am in great need to the best method to regain my stamina. I just recently got over the swine flue, and it has left me completely bereft of any stamina whatsoever!

I need the stamina for kicking practice, kata practice, and sparring.

I don't know how good this is (it hasn't helped, a sure sign), but I've been doing this:

Roundhouse kick: 15
Side kick: 15
Front kick: 15
Hook kick: 15
Spinning side kick: 15
Spinning hook kick: 15
Spinning back kick: 15
I-O crescent kick: 15
O-I crescent kick: 15

I often get dizzy when doing this, so if I do, I rest between sets until I feel better.

Thanks!!
:)

1. Find some stairs.

2. Run up.

3. Run down.

4. Repeat.

Also, jump rope.

rather then do sets like that,I try combos moving forward.

so it might be

mid side kick, high side kick, step down and forward, turning kick, reverse turning kick, turning kick.

something like that repeated a few times.

That's what I do. Moving forward + kicking combination.

Stanislovas - Thanks, but I don't have any stairs available!

As well as kicking based drills you should add in some form of interval training, e.g. skipping for timed rounds, tabata workouts and other interval based workouts.

Ross Enamait has some very good routines on his site.

There are two big problems I've noticed with cardio drills available on the internet. They either a)focus on long, slow distance cardio (read:jogging) or b)are too hard for the beginner/person recovering from an injury or illness. My personal advice is to start off by sprinting as far as you are comfortable, walking back to the start and repeating. After 5 repeats, have a longer rest and start again. Finish after another 5 reps. It's so simple, but it will really really help, and anybody can do it. Absolutely anybody not in a wheelchair can run 30 metres. You'll probably want a more advanced routine when you're reguarly doing 10 repeats of 100 or so metres. Start off doing this once or twice a week, 3 times later on if you really want to.

I have been reading about Tabata and it seems to me that it's the best way for me to develop my cardiovascular endurance. In an article I read about Tabata vs. GMX (or something like that) it said that 1-2 times a week is good. Do you guys (and gals) agree with that, or do you usually do it every other day?

Don't just do tabata intervals, mix them up with longer intervals such as timed rounds, 400m runs, 100m sprints etc. You will get more out of your cardio sessions if you do that. How often you do a cardio workout will depend on what else you're doing in your schedule.
