For those of you interested in bo work, I've updated my site and I've put Sakagawa bo kata, Shimabuku bo kata and Miasata bo kata on it, with Bo 4 and Bo 5 to come when I have time.
Note, Bo4 & 5 have about 3 times the number of moves than the others, so its a long task!

At the moment the instructions are only written and I am hoping to put them into video when I have time.
I am assuming that most ppl know the basic stances, positions and moves, but will also put these on as time allows.
If you are struggling and need help plse feel free to ask!
I prefer teaching these kata in person but since you are mostly on the othe side of the world then this will have to do!

Thats very good Reiki, very good indeed. You have obviously put a lot of hard work into it, and it has paid off.
Your Sakagawa no kon is very different to my Sakagawa no kon. May I ask what your style/lineage is?
Keep up the good work.

Hi Tobias
many thanks for your kind words :)
It is quite a challenge putting it down in words rather than instructing! I usually get the job of teaching bo because I love it.
Our club formed after a split from Zen Do Kai about 15 or so years ago.
I believe that the roots came from Goju, however our head has incorporated many other disciplines into our syllabus.
Do you have your Sakagawa online? I'm interested in what is different between the katas! Do you have other bo kata?

No problem.

I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes my students like to write down the kata, but I find it very difficult to do.
Do you have your Sakagawa online?
Personally, no. I haven't come across it online either. HOWEVER, in March/April I'm planning to actually get a website made, and have decided that I will put videos of weapons kata online. I have checked with my friends about bandwith and other things I don't understand, and they said it was OK.

Right. Our roots are in Matayoshi Shinko and his son Shimpo, and is more Chinese based that Japanese. I have come across a few versions of Sakagawa no kon in Okinawn Kobudo/Ryukyu Kobudo, as I'm sure you have.
Do you have other bo kata?
Yup - the other bo katas I have seen in our association are Shushi-no-kon, Choun-no-kon, Sakagawa-no-kon and Tsuken-no-kon. I'm sure that our master knows other kata, but I have not seen them.
I look forward to your response, but I have a feeling I won't recieve it as I am going on holiday.
Cya all in 2 weeks!!!!.
