Hi H&F experts,

I frequently hear that one shouldn't do further weight training while still sore, but when you first start a new regime of lifting heavy things (or when I do anyway) the soreness lasts for, say, 4 days.

Does this mean that you should always wait out the soreness and train only once every 5 days to start off with, then the DOMS should reduce in duration as you get further into your training and you can increase the frequency? Or should you give it a couple of days but try and stick to a set schedule of frequency?

Many thanks!

Do you take the chocolate milk after training to cut down on the DOMS?

Work through it. Only if it's really bad should you avoid training, or if your main goal is strength and your numbers are severely affected. Even then most of the time it's important to still work through the pain.
