It's back. My back problem. It's got so on my off days I can hardly touch my toes. I don't know what I"m doing wrong- I warm up, I stretch, I use good technique on exercises. Any suggestions? I've been to the doctor and he gave me some painkillers and told me to rest. Fat chance of that, I have to work....

You might have caused some kind of repetetive damage to the spine or caused a muscle imbalance. Obviously, it's impossible for us to tell you over the internet, but if it's chronic then my money would be on that as the more likely explanation. It's so easily done. I was repeatedly praised for my good lifting technique when I was a beginner, but I still managed to screw up my back somehow.
Your doc's given you the classic fob off. I'd advise going back and saying that it's getting worse, detailing exactly what's wrong with it, telling them you're reluctant to take pain-killers in case they mask the pain and cause you to make the problem worse. In other words, badger them until they agree to refer you to a specialist.

Go in and cry, seriously! My gp kept fobbing me off about my back until I went in and broke down as it was affecting the whole of my life. Then he started taking me seriously. In the end though physio did nowt and I went to an osteopath who actually helped finally.

Cool, have done. Went again today, she went in for a thorough examination, told me that it's basically OK, no hard tissue injuries, but be more bloody careful when I'm lifting weights. Looks like I'm off the weights for a week or so.

GP's know bugger all about backs and the NHS physio was telling my wife to do exercises that we found out were actually bad for her condition. What you need is a ninja:cool: Ask Frodo about him.

I suggest that you get more then one doctor's opinion just to be sure.

Get an MRI to be sure, stop lifting weights for the moment that will only make matters worst.
Until you know what the cause of the problem is

Hi
You can find back exercises on the web. Do some and see if that fixes your problem it will either make it better or worse. If you can get an MRI then thats the thing to do. I also use the inversion table to give me some traction on my back and all related muscles in the back.
