I found lotta ppl saying that TKD is not practical and dynamic, too fancy. Real? I thought Kung Fu was the only failure in the world of martial arts.
What do you say? Do any of ya have videos that proves TKD is more poweful than Muay Thai/Karate/Judo?

Firstly, there's no such thing as a video that would prove anything, unless you rank up every single practitioner of each art across the world. Or possibly clone someone, train each of the clones in the individual arts, give them exactly the same training...
I found lotta ppl saying that TKD is not practical and dynamic, too fancy.
And some styles/schools of it are. However that's generalising, something that can't be done with such a large and diverse style.
I thought Kung Fu was the only failure in the world of martial arts.
You might want to reword this quickly. We have a large number of kung fu practitioners, many of whom I know are extremely capable and talented. Why exactly would you say that it is a failure? Particularly if you admire Bruce Lee...

I am glad that you consider JKD a philosophy more than a kind of syle. However, Bruce's JKD is based on various forms of martial arts, besides those skills he created himself. His 'one-inch punch' came from Chinese Wing Chun for sure. But he also learned high kick and side kick from Chuck Norris's karate, nunchaku from Danny Inosanto, Judo from Gene Lebell, bouncing step from Ali. There were many examples, just to mention a few here, so i personally dun take JKD as Kung Fu
And yes you are right, there are 2 thousands different styles of Kung Fu. The word Kung Fu is a cantonese term of 'Chinese Martial Arts', I've always hate people putting a = between Kung Fu and a particular form of martial arts. However, as long as I've seen and heard, Kung Fu has been criticized more than praised. Hung Kar style, for example, is a kind of martial arts based on animal forms, so as Ying Yit fist. There are alot of chinese martial arts focusing on following the forms of a certain something. There's once I watched a martial arts competition between Japanese Karate and Drunken Boxing, and those Chinese martial artists were beat up like shxx.
While the main stream of Kung Fu doesn't seem to work, I am not concluding all of them. Eight Extreme Fist for example, is a kind of deadly martial art that serves to kill the opponent within one or 2 moves. However, strange that people in China never promote such dynamic thing. My father is an Eight Extreme Fist and I have seen how powerful the art is through his Sifu, it really kills.

Just a word of caution to you BruceForever ...
... you have used many "choice" words in your thread that leads me to believe you are looking to start some trouble.
No one here on this forum needs to prove anything to anyone.
Suggest maybe you find out for yourself firsthand and visit a TKD or Kung Fu school and ask them what they say! ;)

If all depends on the fighter. No one style is better. Its all the fighters.

Any art "really kills" if you train in it properly.

I have several videos where a Muay Thai practionitioner destroys a TKD practitioner in a NHB competetion, does that mean Muay Thai is better than TKD? No, just that in that instant, one competitor beat another. Very badly, very very very badly.

i think TKD becomes fancy when they fight in the ring amongst other TKD players. Punches to the face are prohibited, punches to the torso only score if they knock an opponent down. Since TKD competition is based on points, and since punches rarely scoring anything, coaches emphasize kicks much much more. And in the event that points are equal, the next criteria for deciding the winner of the match is by superiority, which means whoever used the most complex kicks wins. This is why TKD seems very fancy. Of course, this is only valid for sport TKD. Sadly, TKD seems to be evolving more towards the sport than the reality of street fights. Just my two cents, I studied TKD for 11 years before shifting to Tai Chi.

BE CAREFULL PEOPLE.
COMPETITION IS NOT MARTIAL ARTS(ART OF WAR).IT IS BUT MERELY A SPORT WITH RULES AND A JUDGE.
NO RULES AND JUDGE ON STREET IS THERE?????????
TKD CAN RULE WITH THE RIGHT PRACTITIONER AS WITH ANY OTHER MARTIAL ART.

I think it's all down to individuals rather than styles. I've met TKD guys that couldn't even fight off sleep and some who were devastating. I can say the same for nearly all the martial artists i've worked with. My only point would be that any martial artist or system that dosen't practice ground work/grappling are at a huge dissadvantage in a `live' situation.

Hey Yoda, was that a HINT???? :D
Also, TKD is NOT fancy or flashy the way I practice it, just practical. Graceful would not be the word you'd use to describe my movements...

couldn't agree more. i do both tae kwon do (WTF, 10 and 1/2 years still going strong) and kung fu (hung gar, just started about 3 months ago) and neither are "failures" in martials arts. they both have what somebody needs to defend themselves, the question is if they will use the techniques or not
and even still, martials arts isn't ALL fighting

wtf and itf have different emphasis on hand techniques, and these vary from school to school.
sadly it's hard to do anything without generalising.
