Hi there,
I’m having a problem with my feet. They are too soft. Even after going around barefoot around home and the years of martial arts done with barefeet, they are still soft. There is callous there on the ball, heel , along the outside sole and pads of the toes but it’s not terribly hard.

It’s causing me some problems. I get small nick in the skin on the sole of me foot, something not even close to bleeding as I am sure happens to everyone. But what can happen is that if I continue to walk and train in barefeet, this small weakness in the skin can rip and tear, gradually getting larger and deeper.

Taping doesn’t work as this keeps sweat close to the skin, making it even softer which can cause the same problem as above except some of the skin tears away with the tape.

So my questions are. Does anyone else experience this sort of problem? And is there anything anyone can suggest to help prevent it?

Moisturize, use atrixo or something like that.

I've had various foot problems ... not sure what you'd call them, nasty, sometime black, deep blisters/cracks that wouldn't heal for a long time is how they appeared, on the heel & ball of the foot, in various places, plus a lovely dose of "athlete's" foot.

What I found effective, is switching to sandals (yes, with socks in the winter :p) for everyday use, though I also had to stick a plaster on one stubborn blister/ulcer between the toes.

Yummy.

Hmm, I can't really stick to sandals as I have to wear closed in shoes for work.

They are also already pretty soft and not dry so I'm not sure moisturising would do much good.

I might try using something like pumice to smooth off the jagged edges that tend to rip.

Moistureising with a good hand cream or foot cream will make the skin more flexible and less likely to rip.
