Only a slight problem, insurance. You're insured for a specific art, under a specific organisation. If you injure yourself or someone else elsewhere then your MA insurance won't cover it.

With regards to the insurance statement, every school should have their own liability coverage which does not specifiy that you must be a local resident. Also if you are travelling you would be wise to purchase extended liability and life coverage.

Interesting site. It might be nice if it works out.

Insurance is a tricky one, in the Scottish Self Protection Group all the Instructors have personal insurance to teach, the money for this is part of the annual membership that all students and Instructors pay. This means that as long as neither the student or instructor are intoxicated and the training area is safe(i.e not a building site) then your insured to teach anywhere, anytime.

Thanx

i love the idea of martial arts in unity. I am for it, but can it work. Maybe one day, this goal will be successful, and it will be a good thing. All people have to do now is stop being so divided in the martial arts world. Not only in the world of martial arts, but in the world PERIOD. Then we can make things happen. I long for that day.

I think that it can work if people want it to. You can see from the interest generated by IOAMAS and PMA that people are eager for such a thing to happen. Both groups (similar ideas but run differently) are committed to seeing this happen and, despite the fact that they are similar, are helping each other. Stuart Anslow is actually a member of the PMA disussion list and promotes his group on our list whilst he has said that we can promote our group on his. What better example to show that this can work?

What are the differences between the two? PMA is run using National Directors through a heirarchy and down to individual members with events, seminars (open and closed), tournaments etc being arranged with members teaching and helping out with each other's schools whereas IOAMAS is more of a like-minded martial arts schools directories where members can pop along and train with people when on holiday/travelling using a good network of linked websites for each member country.

I think that it's a very exciting time that we're living in and I truly believe that both groups can work and work together.
