Early next year (which is, what, a few days from now?), I intend to put up another sparring video that has me in it. Until then...

Tae Kwon Do vs. Sanuces Ryu Ju Jitsu (http://www.eternalskies.com/videos/tkd_jj.mpg)

For some reason, most of you haven't seen this yet, so here ya go! It's a "bonus match" in the LBCC Finals (this one wasn't graded). The TKD guy is at the left, JJ guy, the same one the you saw in the other video (http://www.martialartsplanet.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8198), is at the right.

These are two of the instructors in my dojang (http://www.eternalskies.com/tangsoodo) doing some REALLY light sparring. The Grandmaster specifically said "no takedowns". (awww...)


So...views? comments? violent reactions? spontaneous broadway singing?

You do Tang Soo Do, eh? Good style. I've been doing it for about 7 1/2 years now and I still can't see the end. BTW, is this you in the pic on http://www.eternalskies.com/tangsoodo/images.html ?

Nope. That's my friend Johnny Khuon. He's been doing Wing Chun for fifteen years and now trains with me in Tang Soo Do, although you wouldn't know it since he's always in his Wing Chun stance whenever we spar :) Pleased to meet you!

I don't see ANY Sanuces Ryu in this video.

In the first video, the one on the left is a guy that practices Sanuces Ryu Ju Jitsu...but that doesn't mean he sticks to that EXCLUSIVELY. If you want to see him do actual groundwork, then go here:

Is he new at it as he is not much cop on the ground and looks more like a striker how he fights.

His groundwork is not to a the sort I would have expected - do you know what level/grade he is at?

I looked at it, and I STILL don't see any Sanuces Ryu. I see Tae Kwon Do, but not Sanuces. As a matter of fact, I see no jujitsu at all. Looks like the average pre-teen school yard rough housing.

the tang soo do vid had a little lighter than usual tastes in my opinion. Then again, you did say they were going light, but they should have been able to use better combos if they were masters-light or hard.

Agreed. And that turning around in front of your opponent was a tad risky as well...

EDIT: Who are YOU to know what skill is? You're 15, and you've been taking "X Style" for 5 years (or so you claim). You probably go to a McDojo I bet.
