Hi all,
What is Practical Martial Arts then? Basically it's a voluntary organisation of clubs that differentiate between what is practical on the streets and practical on the mat. Techniques taught are taught in such a manner that students are aware they are designed for either the mat or the street. There are no fees involved in joining and PMA isn't the usual regulatory body either. It's a font of knowledge and a way of networking to the mutual benefit of all.
It is hoped that Member instructors will, if asked, teach lessons in other Member clubs for free, give seminars etc for free (for Member Clubs) and promote the PMA ethos. If ever a club is in trouble Member instructors will be on hand to help out, share knowledge and support the other Members.
Events will be organised by Banner Representatives, Area Representatives and National Representatives, bringing everyone
together for anything ranging from Seminars to BBQs.
I was wondering if you would consider joining Practical Martial Arts? This is something that I've been working on since the PMA website (http://www.practical-martial-arts.co.uk) went live nearly five years ago and has been evolving slowly. Adam Merton of the SKKA and Nick Venn of SWIFT have recently agreed to their clubs joining under the Practical TKD and Practical Kempo Banners with Adam taking on the role of National Director for England and Practical Kempo England Banner Representative.
Further information including the Constitution, Instructor's Charter and introduction will be added to http://www.practical-martial-arts.co.uk in the near future for those who would like to know more and I'll be advertising it on some more of the lists. In the meantime if you'd like to know more please just get in contact by emailing pma@practical-martial-arts.co.uk.
If you don't feel that you would like to take such an active part in this, no problem and no pressure. You could just sign up as a Member (which would still be cool :0)). If you have any upcoming seminars that you would like advertised please send full details to seminars@practical-martial-arts.co.uk and I'll get them posted as soon as I can.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts!
