Nowadays, I run a few times a week. If I rune 1 time a week, I don't have any problems. but if I run 2 or 3 times a week I always have painful legs when I run. Walking is no problem. but when I run the first 5 minutes are not pleasant. Does anyone knows how I can remedy this? oh, and I do stretch before and after I jog.

Do you take a shake or some kind of recovery drink after your run? How far do you run and how fast?

I only drink water after i'm done running. I run 5-6 kilometres and I usually go as fast as my body allows me to.

About 3.5 miles or so. I'd recommend drinking a gatorade or taking a meal directly afterwords - it would probably help improve your recovery.

Thanks, I'll try that next time. i also forgot to mention that it's especially the calf muscle, I don't have too many problems with the quadriceps.

stretching before you run is pretty much a waste of time. If I were you, I'd warm up using joint rotations and light cardio.

Try stopping to stretch after you're a bit warmed up, it works for me. It's supposedly because i have hamstrings which have the flexibility and the volume usually associated with tow cables.

And seriously, check that you're getting enough protein in your diet. I have a deep yet slightly irrational distrust for nutritional supplements, so i just have a zillion different recipes for eggs.

Where is the pain, is it just muscular? Sharp, dull? Need more input.
