:bang: sorry but im not exactly sure where to put this thread. I am training in muay thai and plan to soon start bjj. I weigh 130 lbs, about 5'8 and am fairly fit but not exactly buff. I would like to eventually gain around 20-30 lbs and define my abs way more, but im not sure how. I currently do lots of pushups, crunches, and several veriations, but im not seeing any benafits from this other then endurance. Im lookin for advice about my weight confusion.

I'm no expert but as many people here will soon tell you: diet, diet, diet!
That said, as I understand it some people are just not shaped in a way to have visibly defined abs.
I'm not sure bodyweight exercises will be sufficient. You're probably gonna need to hit the weights. I'll leave it to people who know what they are talking about to advise on what to do however.

you're fourteen years old. be patient. your body will grow how and when it's ready. if you exercise and build good eating habits, you will get bigger and stronger, pretty much no matter what you do.
as for abdominal definition - this is 100% a matter of diet. the only thing that makes abs visible is losing bodyfat. i'd stop worrying about it: if you exercise diligently and eat sensibly, your body will build muscle instead of fat on its own, over time.
have i mentioned proper diet and exercise and patience yet?

If you want to gain 20-30 lbs of muscle you're going to have to do some serious eating, get access to some kind of weights and start lifting heavy. Forget crunches and pushups and start training full body with an emphasis on compound lifting with progressive overload. You can also forget about having any chance of having abs while you're gaining weight, as some proportion of the weight will inevitably go on as fat. Long term, I'd personally recommend you aim to gain 30-45lbs of weight and then diet off the excess fat.
I should point out that gaining 20-30lbs of muscle is not easy. Realistically you're probably looking at at least two years worth of hard work.
(Edit: Mod note - I've moved this from the bodyweight section to the newbie questions section.)

You're 14, stick to body weight exercises and eat loads. You'll fill out naturally between the ages of 15-18ish. As soon as you're 16 you can start doing weights but do go to a decent gym and get a proper program from a trainer, you don't want any injuries.
Good luck with your training.

There is nothing wrong in traning heavy, as long as you dont over do it.
I am 16 now, and i startet training heavy 11 mounths ago. Ive gained around 10 kg. (dunno what that is in pound and USA standarts :p)
About abs... Like a person said longer up, not everyone have it easy getting abs.
Its because of were your body have alot of fat. Some people can have 16 procent fat, and have defined abs (rare :p) while some dont have it with 13 procent.
But i heard that you need around 13- procent fat (maby im wrong) to have defined abs.
There are two ways of doing it. One, lose the fat. Two, train your abs so much, that you can see it even tho there are some fat :p

It can't unless you just get big into ridiculousness, or don't stretch, or only do isolation exercises.
Additionally, what everyone else said. The main thing for you to focus on is eating lots, and eating right. That means:
Lots of protein (specifically from meat, eggs, and dairy)
Lots of fruits and vegetables
Eat 4 or more times per day
Stay consistent
Do research. If you can talk your parents into buying you the "precision nutrition" guide, do it and read it and do your best to follow the instructions contained therein.
