What is an Elbow Wrist Lock

This sounds like one hand holding the back of the elbow and one hand holding the wrist and forcing it to go the way its not meant to go. but i could be wrong.

What is an Cross Wrist Lock

no idea how that would work????

Do you know what context the terms are used in?
That would help ;)

Cross wrist lock may refer to a cross hand grip, as in somebody grabbing your right wrist with their right hand so you apply a wrist lock from their.

Elbow wrist lock could be refering to a kote gaeshi applied using the elbow, look for it here

www.tomiki.org

Hope that helps.

This could be a few diff. locks but "elbow wrist lock" makes me think of Z-lock or Z-bar.
You pin Uke's fingers to your chest, cut Uke's elbow w/ the other hand forming the arm into a ruff "Z" shape & locking up the joints.
Then apply pressure down & into the the length of the arm forcing the elbow and wrist joints side ways.
A lot of words for a good quick lock-up when someone grabs at you.

Similar to a Nikkyo, I know the one you mean. Normally done from a lapel grab.

maybe i am being dumb but it souunds quite a lot like you are describing back hammer and figure 4 locks. Obviously not their technical name but most people seem more familiar with it, probably cos of wrestling.

Hammer lock? Can you discribe it?

Common wrist/elbow lock....

If Tori takes right hand under Uke's arm and grabs wrist it is what I know as an Akushu or entangled arm bar.

Thanks for the link Colin, nice.

No probs Cal, I like the Tomiki website mainly because of the animated jifs. If anyone has any other links with animated techniques please feel free to post them.
