See Kgirl's answer. Sorry, but having played DOA its nowhere near realistic. Most of the single techniques they do would drop someone instantly. Anyone kicked that hard backwards into a solid, unforgiving surface would most likely have their chest collapsed by the impact, if not from the kick then from hitting the wall. I've seen car accidents which throw people less distance than some of the kicks in that game.

However, its still an amusing game.

overall tekken is by far more realistic by comparison, alot of the movements are applicable and the grappling aspects are very realistic, maybe not interms of damage but as far as what can and cant be done, tekken wins.

yeah id say tekken. while it has some fairly unreal moves, most of them are physically possible (if you are flexible enough :D)

Virtua Fighter 4.

(No game is ever realistic though, think about it)

I go by the 2 response rule. If a second person chimes in, then the thread has been officially resurrected

Hate to say it...but Tekken is more realistic.

The women in DOA are too good to exist :D:D

Yep Tekken, atleast there they never fall from a giant hill side, and get up withouth any injury what so ever -_-. Also, some of the ninja in DOA 3 can dissepear and appear whenever they want with they're super slick ninja moves :). I know Yoshimitsu in Tekken can do this to, but he's got some kind of secret high tech powered bio suit on him. :)

They both suck  I'd say out of all the arcade-style fighting games, Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution is the most realistic, but it's clearly still a game.
I rather like K-1 World GP; it's a bit outdated now, but it still captures the ebb & flow of a real K-1 match, without the dodgy judging

There was this UFC game on xbox that was pretty realistic too.

but yeah, between DOA and tekken, tekken.

how the hell can you say that tekken sucks!!!!!1 it is by far the greatest fighting game of all time and any magazine or site will tell u that. along with the fairly intelligent.

by far the most realistic video game is karate champ circa 1985.

If I had to choose... I'd probably say Dead or Alive 3, Tekken is and has always been far too slow.

Wait a minute-- you don't know because you have a life. Yet you're asking us?
What's that say about us?

Tekken :p

Games aren't supposed to be realistic, they're all about escapism. You knock someone through a wall and down a 20 foot drop on DOA because you know that if you tried it in real life you would have actual consequences, namely a murder charge!

Ugh! How can you say that Sever!? Virtua fighter is so pants! I'm not a huge Tekken fan to be honest (find it boring as hell!) But DOA3 was pretty cool.

It's pretty easy to say - Tekken sucks. See? :D At least it does from a reality standpoint, which is the subject of the thread. As for the actual games, aside from beer & pringle-fuelled button bashing fests with my mates on Tekken Tag, I haven't enjoyed any of them since Tekken 2, whereas VF4: Evo requires much practice and has quite a deep single player mode. Soul Calibur one & two are great too, but as for the reality standpoint, I still think K-1 takes it. Pride FC was a good first attempt but it was way too shallow, especially on the ground and there was no career mode! I quite enjoyed the last UFC game but I think they still focussed too much on the standup game. I think there's a great game to be had out of grappling, I really do, but it would require one hell of a lot of R&D and lots of practice and knowledge of the ground game on the part of the player, which is probably why the standup side gets emphasized in MMA games. I'd really like to see an ADCC game one day in the future

I agree lol, Tekken does suck :) it hate the pace of it. Whilst i didn't mind Tekken Tag (it was alittle faster), i hated the slow sluggish controls of Tekken 4.

wow, direct attacks against tekken, you must worship the devil....... J/K
granted that Tekken 1 and 2 were lathargic at best. Tekken 3 was pretty fast. Tag was very fast and thats what i loved about it. but Tekken 4 was real slow, and 5 has retained most of the speed of Tag.

I just found Tekken very mundane. Considering its on a 'next generation' console, i just didn't see it trying to push the boundries. Thats what i really like about Dead or Alive 3; it made much more use of the 360 degree movement, reversals of reversals, and the surrounding enviroment.

It seemed the only advancements the Tekken series had taken from its original Playstation version was the graphics.

Tekken 3, Tekken tag, Tekken 5. all are VERY fast.

Tekken 1. 2 and 4 are all pretty slow though.

yes DOA 3 may put a little more emphasis on "spinning".
DOA 3 is very unrealistic though, VERY. the motions wern't fluid, they all look forced and unmethodical. in tekken everything comes together beautifully.
and yes, i suppose in comparison DOA 3 may have better graphics than tag, but certainly not 4. Namco has gone to great lengths to beef up the gameply in every installment and has done so very successfully. Tekken is still a graphical beauty, the soundtrack is mesmerizing, the story is rich and enthralling. and the Gameplay is second to none. and i doubt anyone can argue otherwise that Tekken is by far the greatest fighter series ever created.

oh and yes, tekken has very deep reversal system as well. its just that the timing must be so percise and the movement so complex that many people don't use it.
