So lately, I've been having problems sleeping mostly because of summer I've been sleeping at around 3am, but recently I haven't been able to get sleep until around 5am and even then I usually squirm in the bed for an hour.

Since Im still in vacation all I have to worry about is MA classes witch are at night except Saturday so I get my 6 to 7 hours of sleep. But I've heard its unhealthy to sleep on later hours specially during the day and so on.

So I just wanted to ask that, how badly can it effect my MA and overall Health? Be as specific as you can :) and as a follow up what would be the healthiest way to get back on track? I usually resort to going a full day without sleep and just going to sleep the next day at around 8 or 9pm.

So yeah anyways Help? Explain?Clarify? :hat:

Do you feel tired?

Well I mostly when I wake up feel like sack of...potatoes but after awhile a start to feel better, I'd say I feel a bit weary and what not through out the day, but I can still do all things I have to do, I usually have enough energy for class & whatnot. The weariness was my initial concern when I wrote this.

You could try elevating the head of the bed about inch or two. When I had bad insomnia, hadn't slept for 3-4 days, that experiment just knocked me out almost instantly. :)

Different people require different amounts of sleep.

If you are feeling tired try getting yourself into a routine. Not only going to sleep and waking up at the same time, but also with your routine leading up to bedtime. Give yourself time to wind-down, especially after exercise. If you can, try to avoid studying/working etc in the room you sleep in. Since you are having trouble sleeping in the summer months, ensure the room you sleep in is dark enough, or wear something over your eyes.

If you get into a routine, things might be easier when your holidays end.

I think sleep is really important and lack of it certainly will affect physical (and mental) performance.

You could also try drinking milk before sleeping.

It contains tryptophan which causes serotonin to be released - a hormon that regulates sleep patterns.

Use Melatonin to get onto a regular sleep schedule.

not really, it's a desperate measure that I do when all else fails. It works.

but i've used better techniques recently, I haven't done that in years
