Hey, i have a chance to take a class on Myofascial stretching once a week at school. Anyone have experience with this? Think it will help my flexibility? My thoughts is it can't hurt either way so i might as well go for it.

It's similar to myofascial trigger point therapy. If you've ever suffered from trigger points (I have), you will certainly appreciate the benefits of this therapy. Trigger points can be terribly painful, and MDs in the US routinely misdiagnose them as more serious conditions (ones that respond to drugs and surgery, which, of course, are their favorite protocols). It happened to me. Luckily, a well-informed chiropractor was able to diagnose my problem correctly and start a proper therapy program.

Just be sure the person conducting the class is qualified to teach it. If you're in the States, your best bets are chiropractors and licensed massage therapists.

If you're looking for improvements in your flexibility and you currently don't suffer from any myofascial problems, just getting into a mainstream stretching routine should be all you need.

I'm a massage therapist and have some experience with myofascial techniques. But I'm not sure I understand your question: are you going to be learning stretching techniques from the standpoint of a bodyworker to use on others, or will this be a class where you and others learn to apply stretches from myofascial therapy to yourselves. If the latter, it could certainly be of benefit to you--particularly if you have some ROM restrictions. In that way it can help your flexibility.
