Hey guys,

Do you have a standard time that you would have a thread deleted either if it hadn't been posted on for some time or if the topic itself was started so long ago that it should be re-hashed?

I would suggest (if you don't already do it) that you regulate off old threads to a 'basement' section that could be viewed but not added to and if someone wanted to talk about something that was posted earlier all they would have to do is post a new thread.

There's another site that I post on that have threads that go back to 2000 and I didn't look at the last time that someone posted on it before adding my 2 cents. Feels a bit stupid talking about a topic that everyone else finished with a few years ago.

Just my opinion.

It's an idea I think we will probably wait till the new version of the forum is out and there is an archive feature in it. which should allow us to do that very easily. Still that will be a couple of months of since it's currently only going through Alpha testing at the moment.

Also I'm getting 'pop ups' today offering insurance and casino! Are these by design or has someone onloaded to the site?

Hi Jim,
it's a double edged sword though mate. I do agree about chatty threads, but threads that are seeking to collect information should be accessible for a long time I feel.

A while back I was trying to get some info on a particular subject, but no-one on site was interested because it had been talked to death 3 years before I got a computer. If the threads had been available via a search, i wouldn't have had to ask elementary questions.

I guess it depends on your mentality. I'm a hoarder you see. I keep everything just in case I need it one day.

Perhaps an archive file? I'm still illiterate on the computer but perhaps a directory with a list of topics perhaps a tombstone or something to designate it as a dead file...............
I keep getting a pop-up from Britanna tonight

How much do these links/pop ups pay out of curiousity?

Depends on whether they get clicked or not I think
