Can anyone give me any good sites on learning PHP, or the differences between PHP and ASP? I've got the W3Schools site, but any other good pages would be appreciated. Mostly I'm looking for something on using PHP/ASP to connect to a MySQL/MSSQL backend. Its for a Uni project type thing.
Cheers

php.net has an online users manual.
http://www.php.net/manual/en/
http://www.php.net/manual/en/ref.mysql.php
mysql_connect
mysql_select_db
mysql_query
mysql_fetch
mysql_free_result
mysql_close
are some of the major ones...
You may also want to look into session handling for security.
if you need any help feel free to contact me

I think I have some header files and libraries I compiled to make things easier.... if I can find them I will be more than happy to send them to you.
I also recomend Php Expert editor for an IDE if your looking for one.

Nothing constructive to contribute:
I don't like php at all. Another forum I frequent is based on php and it sucks. I see the chat fucntion here is php and I don't like it.
If this forum is php I will eat my novelty bread 'n' peanut-butter hat.

Sure, it is php version 4.x something, there are just a few minor things out of date, but it will teach you all the basics and stuff, the only thing it does is use the old $HTTP_POST_VARS global rather than the new $_POST, will upload it now and send whoever wants it a link by pm
