Here's the background to my question:

So the last 3 weeks I've laid off my squats and deads. I was doing like deep squats when I felt a strange sensation in my left knee halfway through my set. It was odd can't quite describe it. It just felt so different I didn't stop. I went on with my set and with every rep the sensation got more intense but since it was a new sensation I didn't get alarmed and I finished it.

I decided not to do anymore sets but alas the damage was done!

I work at a paint shop so I routinely lift 40-150 lbs. in awkward positions so the next day I definitely felt a tweak in my left knee.

My left knee sort of buckled when I bent my knees too much.

Not sure if this info is necessary but I am flat footed. My feet point outward and my knees bend inward.

Basically though only advice I've heard is to rest my knee and take it easy but I was wondering if anyone had any other advice.
