Hi guys. Long time, no see.
How does Wushu/Kung Fu get along with weights?
Is it a good or bad combination?
Thnx.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
I think If you lift light weights for high reps It will be okay
But I dont think that heavy weights with low reps will work with wushu
becasue You will have bulky muscles
(everyone please correct me if I am wrong)

Alright, thanx. But would it have a benefit to my wushu/kung fu training or would I be better off?

If your wushu style depends on tricking and flashy kicks I dont think it will improve your wushu
but if your wushu is simple with no flashy kicks i think it will help you

Thanks. My style doesn't have that much tricking and flashy kicks, but I just got into some tricking and acrobatics. So I might just do some bodyweight exercises along with plyometrics and isometrics.

I'll have to disagree. I was doing Wah Lum Tam Tui Northern Praying Mantis Kung Fu and was weighing in at 215lbs from weight lifting. I had no problems with agility and we had a few forms with flashy kicks and whatnot. As long as you keep balanced with weights/cardio and flexibility training you will be alright. It wont directly help your wushu but it will help you overall.

Lifting weights is no problem until you get super huge. You just have to do a little extra stretching to keep from tightening up.

You are wrong.
The only detriment to your wushu/Kung Fu/Martial Arts practice is that when you lift weights it will tighten you up so you'll need to spend as much or more time stretching than you are lifting weights if you want to see your flexibility improve.

Lifting heavy weights in compound lifts will help you to build power for plyometrics.
