Time for another SFUK Open Mat, this time in Scotland!

Previous events have had over 150 people on the mats, from total beginners who have never grappled before to Pro MMA fighters and Commonwealth Judo and Wrestling champions!

Attendees in the past have travelled from England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and France!

------------------

Submission Fighting UK (http://www.sfuk.net) presents...

SFUK Open Mat 8: Scotland

When?

Sunday 8th February 2004, 12pm till 4pm

Where?

The ARC Gym
Caledonia University
Glasgow City centre

Price?

£4 for training
£2 for spectators

Pay on the door.

1 hour - sparring

However, the format is flexible and the atmosphere relaxed so people are free to spend the day how they please.

------------------

This is not a competition

It is a shared training experience and social event for the betterment of our sport. A chance to meet, spar with, and learn from the people you speak to and read about on the internet.

Bullies and bad attitudes are not welcome. This is about training together and making friends, if you're looking for a fight go somewhere else.

Instructors, students, fighters, promoters and fans welcome.

------------------

Please contact me in advance if:

a) You have products to sell on the day
b) You would like to teach a technique workshop
c) You can offer any help in promoting the day

------------------

These events are only made so successful by your support, please spread the word as much as possible.

This event is being run with the help of Paul McVeigh.

I'm certainly interested, but have a question.

Having absolutely ZERO experience in this field what should I expect?

Is it more sensible to get at least an introduction before hand? I was interested at trying a bit of Judo (before anyone leaps on that I am purely interested in Judo due to the sport side :D).

Any tips for the grappling newbie thinking about going along?

Right, I'll see if I can make it up, though I don't relish the idea of another fourteen hour drive in one day. If I'm coming up I'll let you know ahead of time so that you can stock up on caffeinated drinks, okay? :p

Ooh, Mini Map meet in the makings.

I'd be happy to show me ignorance on the ground in such illustrious company. Especially so cheap.

Anyone else?

All levels are welcome.

It'll basically be a bunch of guys having a roll (a few who want too might be hitting each other too), sharing moves & training methods, chatting and generally having a good time.

When trying something new previous experience is often of benefit for faster progress, but not essential. Every one has to start some where. Judoka are welcome.

If you're gonna train bring a bottle of water, a towel, suitable training gear and perhaps a notepad as it's a great opportunity to learn and make contacts. Leave your ego at the door and enjoy.

If you can get down to Woking or Guildford, then I don't see why not. And I'll fightya quite happily.

Of course, this is all kinda dependent on me being able to go. :p

Oh, the cost is several caffeinated drinks, red bull, coffee, whatever for taxi fee.

Cool - a fight of the Gods...er...Mods :D I will see what I can do mate - quite seriously now.

Must get in contact with Ghostsuit and see if he knows of availability at his B & B. I may come up the day before and come back the day after. I deserve a break methinks. This will depend on when I move though. Will keep you all informed. I really want to do this...

Around 70 people in attendance, people from North of Scotland down to Manchester showed face & got on the Mat :D

Rolled with some complete beginers, rolled with some guy's that compete on a regular basis, the great thing was there was NO ego's.

Big thanks to Levo for setting this up. Can't wait for the next one :D
