Be honest, when your pumping iron in the gym, pounding away on the treadmill or pavement, grinding out the last burpee, crunching your last crunch, deadlifting till your dead, dipping for development, squatting for jelly...your doing it to look good in the mirror.

The health benefits are mere seconds to your incessant demands to look buff of sexy.

Admit it and move on with your lives.

Well, I wouldn't know about pounding away on the treadmill or deadlifting. I spend all my time in the gym looking in the mirror.

P.S. Search function, noob :D :p

It sure isn't because I move massive amounts of iron or fill a doorway!

Honestly, I would said that even if I do it mostly for the look, the health come indirectly. But hey, it's not a bad thing, I find much motivation to train for the look than for the health...so if I would try to mind myself that all I do in the gym is for my health...I wouldn't train at all

For this case, I think it's better to have a bad reason with good result than a good reason with bad result

Dont listen to the haters!!

Think about the long run, how much better your health is now.

Also, nothing wrong with putting some muscle mass on to replace the podgy! hit the weights!

WTF is going on in your profile pic?

Looks like a girl drinking a beer to me.

I don't hit the gym to look good, that comes naturally. I go to the gym to hit on the girls who are there making themselves look good.:p

It's all about ego. I didn't get a 1000lb 3 lift total looking good or being healthy. I can't help but look good and being healthy helps my lifting.

Still not gonna do cardio though.

Your all wrong you gotta train for the pain.

The Wonderful soreness you feel in every muscle after a good workout.

Lactic acid that's were it's at.

Now that I tear my muscles up with excercise I don't have to cut myself anymore:jester:

For me, 1 part glutton for punishment, 1 part engineer's focus on function. Mix and serve.

It's always been about fitness for me, if I lose too much body fat I am not as efficient and don't see as many gains, so I don't care that I don't have a 6 pack with veins sticking out (as I did many years ago) because I can make a hell of a lot more progress with little burn out with 15-18% body fat, if I see my body fat dropping below 14 I know it's time to eat some pies!

also I'll end by quoting something a friend of mine said once, in the context it was an acquaintance had lost a lot of weight and was gloating in how 'beautiful' she was.

"ugly don't lose weight baby"

I'd have to say honestly, I do it for my Martial Arts, its becomes pretty apparent that an out of shape body has more difficulty in MA weather its Sparring, rolls, kick, etc. So I opted that I wanted to get the best out of my MA class thats why I started training albeit the health and looks are a nice bonus to keep in mind.

:D

Not true.

I was already buff and sexy before I trained.

I train for a third reason.

I train because I like it.

Well I need a great physique to compliment this face :)

I do it for both. It's obviously nice to know you look good - however, stuff such as CoC grippers don't contribute to my physique but rather my health and strength.

Both then:cool:
