I thought it would be interesting to compare peoples techniques, things like foot placement and hand positions etc.

So it chose the basic self defence (attacks, not strikes) moves all white belts learn in our class.

These are:-

1. 'The knife attack' - knife attack to the elbow from outside their body

2. 'Cradle' - from outside of thier body

3. 'Forearm Pressure Point Lock' - the one where you grab their fore arm and twist their arm over by the wrist

4. 'Shoulder Lock' - Done inside the body with your chest facing theirs. One arm goes under their arm and over their shoulder.

5. 'Wrist Lock' - You twist their hand over so that their palm faces outwards.

6. Over the head wrist lock

All of these moves are done over two foot steps.

How do these moves compare to what everyone else studies / studied at white belt. Are they different, similar, the same?

Hello:

The moves you explain I did not learn as a white belt. Only now as a yellow belt have we started wrist locks, shoulder locks, forearm pressure point, and takedowns. White belt was basic striking techniques, kicking, falling, rolling, and wrist grab escape/strike moves. I've read some schools combine white and yellow, skipping from white to green. Is that the case with your school?

No, i had a yellow belt.

we did it the other way round, starting with preemptive wrist locks at white then escapes at yellow.
