I'm gonna be 15 next week and I'm a skinny wee thing. My wrists are tiny and stuff but still, no matter how much I eat so far I'm not gaining weight. To put it into perspective I'm 50kg and my little brother who's 4 years younger is only about 5/10Kg away from me...is there any supplements I could take that wouldn't affect my growth? Which ones and how much?

i had a health problem which meant that i was your weight, i have taken no supplements, not even vitamin tablets purely a protein diet eating 5 times a day, taekwondo and gym three times a week. Im currently 72kg now going towards 78kg.

my advice is dont rely on products to help you gain weight, change your diet and put in the effort.

im 18 and at your age i was the same weight, i dont know if you have any medical conditions if not then you will find it a lot easier than i did so if i can then surely you can.

good luck with it.

No medical problems as far as I know...I've always been skinnier than the average kid, but since starting taekwondo I'd like to be able to make the same weight as every other kid my age....which foods should I be eating to gain weight/muscle? I've got one of those total gym things and my dad's old weights which aren't too heavy so I don't think it'll turn into fat 'cause I can use the weight to change to muscle. I just don't really have any foundation to work on just now 'cause I'm all bones!

yea i had the same.

I started out the same as it sounds your doing, doing some light weights at home, to begin it with it seemed like lifting 15lbs was heavy to me.

Some good easy foods, as i know it can be hard with parents to have a regulated diet, things like tuna sandwiches on days when you dont have to get up early i like to eat poached eggs on toast, that way your getting some protein in and carbs aswell.

The best exercises i could reccomend are pushups, situps and tricep dips. To begin with I couldnt do 5 pressups and now im at the stage I can do 40-50 so just dont give up however weak you might feel.

To begin with dont go for the maximum weights you can lift, as a skinny person its better to build up with bigger reps and lower weights, not so low as you cant feel it but i aimed to feel the burn on 8/10 reps and push out the last two.

the most important tip i can give you, is to take it slowly to begin with. I started off doing taekwondo once a week and some weights once a week. You need to put some mass onto yourself before you try and burn it into muscle.

Usually my died consists of: A bowl of wheatabix with a fruit smoothie before school, about 8am
Then at lunch which is quarter to 12 I have two rolls and sausage/bacon or a sausage roll or something which I get from outside school at the shops and stuff 'cause I don't take a packed lunch as of yet.
About 4pm an apple or tub of peaches
At About 5:30pm I have Pizza or fish and chips or pasta etc
About 9/10pm I usually have a pint of water and a more fruit.

More protein, especially if you consider weight lifting.

Well, perhaps more everything - but especially more protein (on an average day I'll take around 180g).

Which sorts of foods have proteins? Just meats?

I'm also not a henchman of amazingly working products. You just 15. I think you should start from your diet. Put more proteins and fats. There are many workout programs that can help you with building your muscles.

If you want I you can try visting this website: http://www.beyondsixpackabs.com

As far as I know most of articles are charge free, so all you have to do is register on-line.

Good luck!!:)

use www.fitday.com and record what you been eating. Ive only been doing it for three days now but its an excellent tool, im at about 250g of protein on a good day and usually about 160-170g reguarly without any protein bars or shakes.

Eat more calorie dense foods, dairy is great for this if you're not lactose intolerant. if not add more oils like olive oil, nut oils and as Yohan said fish oils. Get plenty of meat with each meal and eat them faster so you can get more in before you feel full.

Make sure you train hard and heavy though, else it'll all go on as fat.

I know this thread is pretty much dead, but I wanted to thank everyone on this one. I think that's why I like this site so much, I can get easy to understand answers off of everyone :).
